What "She" Wants. YUCK. My least favorite phrase in this industry. Several big apparel companies love to boast about knowing & creating products that "she wants." Spoiler alert: you don't know what she wants. If we're still at the point where brands need to advertise that they've gotten it right, then we know we still have a long way to go to identify and engineer apparel that actually supports what female athletes want to wear and need to wear to perform well. It's not you, the fashion industry disappoints women daily Last week I was shopping online I was shopping on one of the biggest online retailers looking for a dress she could wear to a conference I understand why women have a hard time shopping for clothes Still, in 2024 fashion brands and designers are using skinny models who wear clothes that are aimed at tall, petite, and plus-size women. The disconnect from reality is unreal Why are they doing it? -Is it aesthetically pleasing? -On thinner models, do the clothes look better? -Do they sell more clothes? A few possible reasons But they fail to understand that women need to visually see how the clothes fit regular women especially if they are petite or a "plus size". And I guess they forgot they are selling to women that come in all sizes and shapes.
