Thought to Ponder & Inspire - Beauty Our human nature and brain/ego tell us to look in the mirror and see our beauty. But when you look the mirror, do you see beauty or do you see a crooked nose or teeth, blemishes or spots on your skin, etc., etc.? When we meet others, we naturally see their physical features. Our brains want to label them - attractive or not.... Everyone might say ‚Wow, this is a nice person, or this is a beautiful dog‘, but when it’s not causing feeling in your heart, for yourself it’s not beautiful. And so that’s why I come back to the project: every patient is a new project. Some people think they are not beautiful but they are. They are very beautiful. I’m not a fan of symmetry for example. So if I see a face with one eye is a little bit lower than the other one, or one part of the lip is a bit thicker than the other part, that is what makes beauty, because it can build a feeling in you. Beauty and social standards for beauty are not the one and the same thing. Beauty is a feminine idea, it is about appreciating, adorning something that inspires us to be more than who are - its nature which calls us to explore, its grace and charm that can make human existence joyful. However beauty standards is a pariarchal idea - these standards are designed to drive a particular agenda, and that agenda is usually of exploitation, manipulation and instilling fear. Viewed from one persepective , beauty is expansive. Viewed from another lens, it is reduced to a bunch of narrow categories and checklists.
