This article by Drilling Contractor, Official Magazine of IADC highlights how Noble is using the data we glean from our Energy Efficiency Insights program to make positives strides on our emission reduction goals. Across all of our active rigs, we can monitor power consumption in real time, improving our knowledge of which activities use the most power, and implementing alternatives such as hybrid power sources. In many states, when the hard sell doesn’t work, oil and gas drilling companies can seek to get the state to force landowners to accept wells they don’t want. This practice is called “compulsory unitization” or “pooling,” and it provides landmen with a powerful trump card against wavering landowners. In many oil and gas states, if a majority of landowners atop an oil and gas reservoir consent to drilling, then the state can force the rest to accept drilling as well. https://lnkd.in/gPUYGrxm

Day-rates for oil and gas drilling vessels and platforms continue to grow at a rapid pace. The most expensive - those that operate at great depths in rough seas - are already chasing record values of $500,000 a day. The most expensive drilling vessels in the world for 2023 are Deepwater Proteus ($490,000), Deepwater Poseidon ($478,000), Deepwater Pontus ($484,000). The three have a lot in common - the owner is Transocean, the client is Shell, and their location is in the Gulf of Mexico. The entire marine services sector for the oil and gas industry had a great 2023 and I believe it will continue to grow in the years to come. No one dares to start investing in the construction of new ships and platforms. The cost of such facilities is in the billions of dollars, and politics says there would be no need for them. This creates wonderful conditions for huge operating profits for the available players in the sector. Of course, this is not an investment recommendation.
