World Energy GH2 is pleased to see the passage into law of Bill C-69 which includes measures that are critical to Canada’s transition to ultra-low-carbon energy production and economic reconciliation.    The Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit is a critical step toward a new energy economy that harnesses Canada's vast renewable energy resources. The Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program allows our Indigenous partners to unlock access to capital and invest in energy projects of their choosing.   Policies such as these ensure that Project Nujio'qonik in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, remains the leading, commercial-scale green hydrogen project in the world. #greenhydrogen #cleanhydrogen #cleanfuels

Hydrogen's ability to deliver the double benefit of decarbonisation and new jobs has been championed by the HEA for two decades. Now highlighted in the government's Make Britain a Clean Energy Superpower mission statement, it sits alongside the promise to develop renewable clusters in all regions. Its success rests on the National Wealth Fund - which will directly invest in ports, hydrogen and industrial clusters in every corner of the country - and the British Jobs Bonus that will support more than 35,000 new jobs in clean energy by 2030. Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) has announced that it is working on an innovative cross-border hydrogen analysis project in collaboration with the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation’s Clean Energy Major Projects Office (CEMPO), and the Washington State Department of Commerce (WA Commerce). The first-of-its-kind study is exploring how British Columbia and Washington state can collaborate in developing and growing the hydrogen economy in their jurisdictions. There is a specific focus on opportunities in relation to the Pacific Northwest Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2), an initiative by the U.S. Department of Energy. PNWER has contracted a team of subject-matter-experts led by Deloitte, Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA)'s tax advisory partner, to conduct the study and increase adoption and knowledge of hydrogen among industry. The Ontario government is investing $5.9 million in nine new projects that will integrate hydrogen into the province’s electricity grid. Late last month, the DOE awarded its first tranches of funding for Phase 1 of the H2Hubs initiative, designed to reduce project planning costs. The ARCHES, ARCH2 and PNWH2 hubs collectively received up to $90 million, cutting their Phase 1 costs by 20%. However, the financial viability of some of these clusters remains uncertain. • We modeled the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) subsidized costs for green hydrogen at $4.20-$13/kg and blue hydrogen at $1.30-$23/kg, even with 45V and 45Q PTC tax credits, making it less competitive compared to gray hydrogen at $1.50/kg. • Appalachian hydrogen projects would require significant additional funding to compete in the clean hydrogen market. • Investment should be directed to regions with abundant, low-cost resources like the Gulf Coast, where subsidized green hydrogen costs $2.30-$3/kg and blue hydrogen costs $0.90-$1.20/kg. Glad we presented today the outcomes of the GIZ-sponsored project: Green Hydrogen Market Assessment in Jordan, as part of the project closing meeting. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Earlier today Germany decided an impressive 16 b€ subsidy to build 10 GW of hydrogen ready gas-fired power plants to clean up the power generation needed during times of „Dunkelflaute“ (=times when no wind or solar is not available). In the same plan a new technology-neutral capacity market mechanism was decided to be introduced by 2028. Big changes are truly underway, are you ready for the new generation?
