Earlier today we had the honour to be invited, together with other hydrogen associations, to discuss with European Commission Executive Vice-President for the Clean, Just and Competitive Transition Teresa Ribera, and Commissioner for Energy & Housing Dan Jørgensen about hydrogen's role in helping advance the #cleantransition and decarbonise our economy. Our tree key recommendations by the European #hydrogen industry during the meeting were: 1️⃣ Derisking off-takers (especially in the chemical, fertiliser and steel industry); 2️⃣ Make the production framework much more flexible to enable a more competitive #greenhydrogen; and 3️⃣ Develop a truly joint #energysystem infrastructure (not two separated ones for electricity and hydrogen). If the challenges ahead are not addressed with the above-mentioned recommendations, Europe will miss on #investment opportunities, #decarbonisation targets will be threatened as well as the EU reputation and #competitiveness will be at risk as other global regions might have better conditions. "We were aligned that the #CleanIndustrialDeal needs to be a success and that anything should be done to make it work under the current conditions. Completely agree! And I will add one point: support our European industry around hydrogen technologies (electrolysers, fuel cells, compressors, power electronics, etc...) to create a strong and very competitive supply value chain.
