October proved to be a challenging month as #developers continued to vocalise their concerns, several major projects were cancelled, and ambitions were scaled back. Developers are struggling to create viable business cases, with costs escalating and offtakers withdrawing from projects. While setbacks are currently more prevalent, government support is still providing hope for the sector’s potential. This month, we explore some of these key challenges and examine the measures in place to ensure continued progress. Fascinating read about the value of flexibility in Hydrogen production prepared by my colleagues! The Battolyser offers 0% min load, i.e., the ability to be turned off completely and instantly in a fully safe way, thereby avoiding H2 production during high electricity prices. This leads to 12% lower LCOH compared to conventional technology (assuming 25% min. load). How do we know? Because we have build a highly comprehensive proprietary techno-economic model that can model the Battolyser interaction with the electricity markets in the Netherlands.
