Decarbonizing alumina calcination is one of the more difficult tasks for the aluminium industry. Interesting to see Calix Limited approach to full electric calcination for smelter grade alumina, compatible with intermittent renewables and flexible operations. They did complete a pilot and now are doing feasibility studies for both a 40T/h demonstration and a full scale plant.
