Remember to check out our report that we launched last month at the National Composites Centre which explored the role of #GenderDiversity in challenging established thinking and accelerating the transition to #NetZero. With the UK #hydrogen sector forecast to need 90,000 skilled workers by 2030 and the data indicating that women are currently underrepresented, there has never been a better time to delve into the correlation between strong representation from diverse groups and our ability to overcome the most pressing challenges we face as a society.

WiGH at #COP29 🎉 Together with our partners UNIDO and Hydrogen Council we are happy to announce our engagement at #COP29 in Azerbaijan! At an energizing morning conversation over coffee ☕, we will talk about the role of women with a solid track record in #hydrogen and connect insights on topics such as education, skills development, cultural dynamics, and policy incentives to promote gender equity in hydrogen. An outcome will also be ideas 💡 on what new resources (studies/surveys/training activities/knowledge products) would be useful to foster inclusivity in the hydrogen sector. Key questions ❔ we will seek to answer: What key bottlenecks remain in achieving gender parity in hydrogen? What are the best practices on gender empowerment from around the world, and what can we learn from them? Can the involvement of women in decision-making and community meetings help to improve the social acceptance of hydrogen? You have access to the blue Zone at COP29 and want to participate at our event? Kindly reach out to hello@wigh.network for additional information.

As someone in the renewable energy sector, climate change affects women differently from men. It's therefore crucial to involve women in the fight against climate change and here👇is how... ### 1. **Understand the Gender Dimensions of Climate Change** - Climate change impacts women and men differently due to varying roles, responsibilities, and access to resources. Women are often more vulnerable to these impacts because they rely more heavily on natural resources and have less access to financial and technical resources. Recognizing these differences is essential for creating inclusive and effective renewable energy solutions. ### 2. **Promote Gender-Responsive Policies and Practices** - Integrating gender considerations into renewable energy projects is critical. This involves ensuring that project planning, implementation, and evaluation include gender-specific actions, outcomes, and indicators. For example, ensure that women have equal opportunities to participate in renewable energy projects, whether through training, employment, or leadership roles. ### 3. **Leverage Women’s Local Knowledge and Skills** - Women often possess unique local knowledge and skills in managing resources, which are invaluable for developing sustainable energy solutions. Their involvement can enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of renewable energy projects. Encourage and support women in sharing their insights and experiences. ### 4. **Advocate for Inclusive Governance and Participation** - Push for inclusive governance structures where women are equally represented in decision-making processes related to renewable energy. Women’s participation at all levels—policy-making, project planning, and community engagement—ensures that their perspectives and needs are adequately addressed. ### 5. **Support Capacity-Building and Education** - Invest in building women’s technical capacity in the renewable energy sector through targeted training, mentorship, and education programs. Encourage women to pursue careers in renewable energy fields, breaking down barriers in traditionally male-dominated sectors. ### 6. **Promote Gender-Responsive Financing** - Advocate for gender-responsive budgeting and financial mechanisms that ensure women have access to funding for renewable energy initiatives. Encourage financial institutions and governments to design programs that specifically target women entrepreneurs in the renewable energy sector. ### 7. **Collaborate with Stakeholders** - Work with civil society organizations, government agencies, and international partners to promote gender equality in renewable energy projects. Collaboration can enhance the reach and impact of gender-responsive initiatives. #ClimateChange #genderEquality #renewableEnergy #capacitybuilding

Women in Solar Europe arrived in Brussels earlier this week with a clear goal: establishing the synergies we need with Associations and Policymakers to ensure we can all contribute to the energy transition. In this article from our PV Magazine Series, we explained why professional networks like ours are critical to tackling climate change. https://lnkd.in/eZ2knyZk #womeninsolareurope #womenempowerment #inclusionstartswithme #InvestInWomen
In a new article for pv magazine, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) explores why embracing 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗘𝗜) is critical for the renewable energy industry's progress. As Carmen Madrid, founder of WiSEu, explains: "Networks like Women in Solar Europe are essential for creating environments of belonging, psychological safety, and support that individuals need to thrive and contribute to the energy transition." With the EU prioritizing gender and climate action at COP29 and ambitious targets under the Net-Zero Industry Act, fostering DEI is more urgent than ever. By empowering diverse talent, we can address skills gaps, unleash creativity, and drive the clean energy transition. WiSEu is now arriving in Brussels to grow a committed community driving DEI forward across Europe. 👉 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e-ztCZB9 #WomenInSolar #Diversity #CleanEnergy #DEI #EnergyTransition

CLIMATE CHANGE AND GREEN GROWTH: GENDER AND RENEWABLE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY.. #ClimateChange is one of the most pressing issues of our time, with far-reaching consequences for the environment, economy, and society. #GreenGrowth is an approach that aims to achieve sustainable development while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. #GenderEquality is a critical component of green growth, as women are disproportionately affected by climate change and have a vital role to play in addressing it. #RenewableSustainableEnergy is a key driver of green growth, offering a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. In this context, it's essential to examine the #nexus between climate change, green growth, gender equality, and renewable sustainable energy. ■This includes: ●The impacts of climate change on women and girls, who are often the most vulnerable to its effects, such as food insecurity and water scarcity. ●The role of women in climate change mitigation and adaptation, including their leadership in renewable energy development and sustainable land use. ●Gender-responsive policies and programming for green growth, which ensure that women's needs and perspectives are taken into account. ●The benefits and challenges of renewable energy for gender equality, including increased energy access and economic empowerment. ●Successful case studies and best practices, such as community-led renewable energy projects and gender-inclusive energy policies. ■Additionally, we must consider: ●The intersectionality of gender with other social factors, such as race, class, and age, which can exacerbate climate change impacts. ●The importance of women's participation and leadership in climate decision-making and policy development. ●The need for gender-responsive climate finance and investment in renewable energy. ●The role of education and capacity-building in promoting gender equality and renewable energy development. ●The potential for renewable energy to create jobs and stimulate local economies, benefiting women and marginalized communities. By exploring these intersections and considering these additional factors, we can identify effective solutions that promote gender equality, support green growth, and address climate change through renewable sustainable energy. 🌟 Diversity Drives Success 🌟 My article exploring why diversity is essential in the energy sector is now on REVOLVE. In short, "diversity isn't just nice to have." A diverse workforce fosters innovative, effective problem-solving and better solution adoption. Currently, women make up only 22% of our sector's workforce. Clearly, we need change. Diversity is key to combating energy poverty and promoting energy justice, ensuring the energy transition is inclusive and leaves no one behind. Universal energy access by 2030 can only happen with a diversity of view points, says the International Energy Agency (IEA). But in the meantime, organizations must avoid tokenism. How do you see diversity impacting your work? 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dngHyr6q #DiversityInEnergy #SustainableEnergy #InclusiveLeadership #ChangeMakers CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency #EUSEW2024
