WHY SHOULD I WASTE MY TIME WITH GEN Z? I saw this headline today on Fortune: “Gen Z are treating employers like bad dates: 93% ghost interviews and 87% have not even shown up for their first day of work”. I come from the baby boom generation. We were taught to respect our employers, where appropriate, showed up for work and were proud to have a good job. We also performed our jobs at or above expectations. The question I ask is “Why should I waste my time and energy on Gen Z when they show such little respect for employers?” I am sure there will be disagreements with this, but time is money. As we grow our company and introduce Wispa (https://wispa.us) to the market, I do not need distractions. Gen Z is going to have a major wake up call. With Wispa there are no borders, walls, or boundaries. Whether the employee is in Central America, South America, Florida, or Toronto, they are all in one connected community that can see and chat with each other as if they were sitting in an office together. Geography is no longer an obstacle. We want younger people in our company as they bring a fresh look and energy. So, Gen Z, when I can hire an educated, well English-speaking employee for less that I would pay you, why should I waste my time on you? My experience to date is that foreign workers who fit the profile, are eager to work, show up every day, and perform well above expectations. When remote working was difficult, maybe you had leverage. Using and selling Wispa has proved to me that you have no leverage. Wake up or you will become the wasted generation. You may be tech savvy, but you need relationship skills beyond your smartphone. Those relationship skills are not only for your social interactions but also for working with employers in a productive environment.
