🇩🇪 Germany’s new nationwide #hydrogen network is set to take shape soon with the first 525 kilometers expected to be completed and operational in 2025. At the end of last year, the Federal Network Agency had approved the construction of the 9,040-kilometer network, which will connect key hydrogen sites in all federal states, from ports to industrial centers and production facilities. ↔️ The 19-billion project will include 40% of lines newly constructed and 60% of existing natural gas lines which will be converted. The first section will run from Lubmin on the Baltic Sea to Bobbau, a district of Bitterfeld-Wolfen. Taxpayer money used to prolong a dead-end trip to Houston. "The Port of Houston Authority reports that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA National Highway Institute) have awarded it nearly $25 million that will be used to construct and operate a hydrogen fueling station for heavy-duty trucks." This project has nothing to do with sustainability or net-zero-emissions goals. It's merely a way to suggest a green tint to yet another way of using hydrogen to prolong our use of fossil gas. It's great to see Grain LNG highlighting the recent certification of the Isle of Grain LNG terminal against the MiQ LNG Standard, the global leader in methane emissions measurement and certification. We were delighted to be selected to audit the terminal as the project represents a world first, with the Isle of Grain the only terminal to be currently certified under the MiQ LNG Standard. Drawing on global experience from both Air Quality and Energy Advisory, SLR’s technical auditors assessed that the methane intensity, company practices and monitoring technology deployment of the Isle of Grain Terminal adhered with the requirements of the MiQ Standard. Joining him were local MP Lauren Edwards, Councillor Chris Spalding, Dave Harris, Head of Planning at Medway Council and Rebecca Sedler, Managing Director of National Grid Interconnectors. Their visit provided an excellent opportunity to discuss how Grain LNG contributes to the UK's energy security and our strategic role in the broader energy landscape. It was fantastic to showcase our facilities and operations, emphasising our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
