Prof. García Gómez's groundbreaking work in CO2 utilization, particularly in developing catalysts for CO2 conversion to methanol and C2+ products, has earned him international acclaim. With over 800 papers and more than 50,000 citations to his name, he continues to lead pioneering research in the field. His achievements, including prestigious awards such as the Janssen-Cilag Award and the Rey D. Jaime I Award, reflect his exceptional contributions to chemical research. As President of the international advisory editorial board of ChemCatChem and a member of the ERC Consolidator Grant panel, Prof. García Gómez plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of catalysis research worldwide. Do you want to know more about CEB’s history? In 1986, Universidade do Minho launched the first independent #Biological #Engineering project in Portugal. However, it was only on June 9, 1994, that the Centre of Biological Engineering came to life. What began as a small group of #researchers gathered in prefabricated pavilions quickly evolved into a research unit composed of more than 300 researchers committed to making an impact and changing people's lives through #Science. From the publication of the first scientific article in 1995 to the construction of the new building and the recognition by international evaluators of the #excellence of the research developed at the Centre, many moments have marked CEB's history. This video is a tribute to 30 years of achievements, #innovation, and scientific #progress.

Before returning to Turku, he worked as a researcher and international coordinator at Qilu University of Technology. During our interview, Nianxing talked about his involvement in the BIO-CAFE project which focuses on electrochemical detection of #femalehormones using #carbonnanomaterials. Great News🎉Researchers from the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute are partners in a research team that will receive a 40 million euros NWO Summit grant for research at the interface of chemistry and biology. The multidiciplinary team, led by Delft University of Technology, will investigate whether it is possible to make living cells from lifeless molecules. In doing so, they will use laboratory evolution and artificial intelligence to engineer complex systems for the first time. From the RUG, Prof. Bert Poolman is responsible for one of the five work programs. For its implementation, the RUG will receive approximately 4 million euros for the first five years. Despite trading his academic career to pursue an entrepreneurial adventure almost 10 years ago, Antleron CEO Jan Schrooten remains highly recognized amongst his scientific peers according to research.com. With close to 240 publications and 9400 citations, as well as being among the top 100 of his peers in Belgium, his contribution to science has inspired others to explore his findings further.   This recognition is testament to the strong engineering and scientific foundations on which Antleron is built. In our innovative work, we as Antleron fellows set out with an engineering mindset to solve biological problems, developing solutions favoring the biology rather then trying to bend it to our will. 🌱 #GrowingInCreativity: In the previous edition of the SEED4EU+ call, we selected 17 projects, implementing diverse and interdisciplinary activities. 🧬 RECHARGE, another project we would like to present, is focused on better understanding how proteins and RNA, which are essential molecules in all living things, interact and form structures like the first ribosomes. The research looks at how certain features of these molecules, like their charge and patterns, help them stick together or form droplets and clumps. The project also studies how certain chemicals, like negatively charged amino acids and metal ions, might have played a role in these processes on early Earth. ✨ Let's give the floor to Oliver Hartley from Université de Genève, a project team member, to hear about his insights on the project collaboration: "As a professor in med school, I don’t discuss the origins of life due to time constraints in the curriculum; this project inspires me to reflect on this big philosophical question while contributing my technical know-how to its understanding. As a biochemical specialist, I am pleased to have invited an aspiring student from Prague to our lab, who eventually brought back some technology to push the project forward. Finally, as a supporting role in this project, I have relatively low investment and still get to work with scientists from different fields whom I would never have met otherwise.
