A repair workshop for the biggest problems in this country. Now it's here: Plan D. Wo ist Deutschland kaputt? Und wie geht's besser? In March DIE ZEIT and #ZEITONLINE started a cool initiative: collecting concerns and ideas, sorting and organizing them. You can search the directory or simply browse through it - but above all, you can suggest a suitable solution for each problem. The aim is to work with their readers to find thousands of solutions to the problems facing this country. And to bring together the people who have already found solutions with those who are suffering from the problems. https://lnkd.in/e2aNBYff #Germany #problems #solutions #society #diegesellschaft #dieZeit #ZeitOnline

#2024Wrapped So... was a little interested in finding out how Coauthor would summarise my year having seen a few... and it's a bit disturbing how close it got to something I might write. It's made it slightly more self indulgent rather than my usual #SelfDepricating tone, but I do like the help in setting a 2025 direction after a few months of #LowMotivation. All in all, still worried that AI will become #SkyNet and Arnie may appear in a ball of blinding light, but its nice to see an alternative to my own summary of a year. Before you read the #SelfIndulgent prose, I want to wish all the people in my phone a restful festive period. Its been a rollercoaster year, and I'm pleased to have met many of you in person, and feel the most connected I ever have to the #GroundEngineering and #Tunnelling #EngineeringCommunity. So, #JumpingOnTheBandWagon... Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: When Ground Engineering named me one of their Top 20 Inspirational Women, I realized something powerful: authentic leadership in ground engineering isn't just about technical expertise - it's about bringing your whole self to work, even the messy parts. 2024 proved that leading a team of 40 while working 60% hours isn't just possible - it's transformative when you're honest about the challenges: • Led SYSTRA Ground Engineering to multiple GE Awards shortlists including Consulting Firm of the Year • Joined University of Manchester's External Advisory Board • Appointed Vice Chair for ICE Yorkshire and Humber's York and North Yorkshire branch • Mentored rising talent through Early Career Challenge • Championed open discussions about perimenopause in engineering Three posts that captured our journey: "World Menopause Day" - Because burnout and perimenopause share symptoms, and breaking that taboo matters for retaining mid-career talent https://lnkd.in/eNE-WPS5 "Conference Reflections" - On the power of connected teams and supportive communities in driving innovation https://lnkd.in/eEjnz8Rf "Surrounded by Talent" - Celebrating our Ground Engineering team's achievements and living SYSTRA values https://lnkd.in/e78P65Em 2025 focus: Growing our ground engineering practice while continuing to champion authentic leadership and women in engineering - because the best solutions come from diverse teams who bring their whole selves to work. To my incredible team who make flexible leadership possible, the ground engineering community who've embraced authentic conversations, and especially those combining career growth with family life - thank you for proving that being real makes us all stronger. #AuthenticLeadership #GroundEngineering #WomenInEngineering #LinkedInRewind #2024wrapped #TimeToSwitchOff #SeeYouIn2025 #SurprisedBy75Posts -- Get your 2024 LinkedIn Rewind! Values. Vision. Mission. When it comes to doing our work in the world and serving our communities to the best of our abilities, all three of these keys are necessary. This is true when we’re thinking about our personal goals (New Year’s resolutions, anyone?), and it’s just as true when we’re considering our collective ones. Headed into 2025, the Village has resolved to revitalize our vision and mission statements. We want to ensure that the foundations of our decisions reflect the shared values and visions of our diverse, growing community and that we can focus on the work that can help bring those visions to life. We can’t do it alone. Next week, we will announce more details about an initiative we’re calling Village Visionaries. Among other components, this initiative will include both in-person and virtual opportunities to participate in interactive workshops designed to spark your creativity, connect you with your values, and offer you multiple tools to help clarify and communicate your visions for our community and generate innovative and actionable ideas about how we can craft that future together. If you’re interested in this initiative and want to be among the first to learn more when details are announced, take a moment to add your name to the Village Visionaries Interest List. Those on the interest list will receive all the details via email as soon as they’re available next week. Add your name at https://lnkd.in/gfXmNTxv. Why does this initiative matter? Read more about how Village staff and leadership use the mission and vision to inform their work at https://lnkd.in/gvFzSDX9.

This year’s CAPIO conference is one for the books. Unlike past industry conferences where I was busy planning, presenting, moderating, facilitating, or being a panelist, I didn’t even win an award this time—I was just there to enjoy the experience. And I had the best time! 🎉🌴💖 ☀️ Maybe it was the beautiful (and hot) Palm Desert. The usual crisp suits and blazers gave way to comfy linen tops and summery dresses. My typically styled hair was frizzy, and my makeup melted into sweat. But I wasn’t alone. 😎 I put my phone down (seriously, no social media updates for four straight days!), sat up front for most sessions, soaked in every word, engaged with speakers and attendees, and learned so much! **Key lessons and highlights:** - Government communicators are crucial in connecting with constituents quickly and effectively, yet they are often under-resourced and undervalued in an organization. - Compelling storytelling and solid data are crucial to winning over policymakers and senior leaders. - If we do our job right, it looks easy and fun! But since most of our agency doesn’t see the strategic planning, technical challenges, and long hours we put in, make sure to mention your research, implementation plans, and analysis. - Gallup Research’s 2023 Governance survey showed that 67% of Americans trust local government, compared to only 32% who trust the federal government—proving local PIOs are doing their job. - Government apps often have low ROI (labor and cost yield low results), so using resources on targeted campaigns is better. - “Push it, Margaret!” Get out of your comfort zone and embrace discomfort—it’ll be worth it. - American bison walk into storms instead of drifting with the wind because they instinctively know that doing so gets them out of the commotion sooner (so…I’m officially on the hunt for a bison plushie for my office). - Community, community, community. Establish a close circle of professionals to run ideas by and ask for help. Ahem, join your local #OCPIO #LAPIO groups! Ask me for more info! 😉 - Be you, be authentic. Identify your skill set and style; build trust. I loved reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, catching up with former colleagues, seeing where everyone is now, sharing stories, and helping each other through current challenges. We also celebrated each other’s wins and danced the night away, ending each night with a real fireside chat. #CAPIO24 #WeAreCAPIO #CAPIO #GovernmentCommunicators #PublicSector #Communications #PublicAffairs #TeamOCERS #DirectorofCommunications

Good vision for all requires lenses of social justice addressing visual disparities isn't just about eyesight; it's about breaking barriers in education, employment and economic productivity. As eye health care practitioners, we must reframe the narratives to recognize vision as a global public health issue, advocating for policies that prioritise eye health and dismantling barriers to access. Together, we can ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their highest potential. Kabgayi Eye Unit Orbis International OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation Arclight Project

In April, the Department of Recovery and Development of Vinnytsia Community is holding focus groups in 6 areas to develop a Community Barrier-Free Space Development Programme for the next three years. The members of the Vinnytsia Automation and Instrument Making Cluster have already participated in three focus groups on physical, information and economic barrier-free accessibility, as they have competencies in most areas of the future Programme. Discussion of barrier-free accessibility issues is very important for the city and society, as the range of participants facing various barriers is very wide: pensioners, parents with small children, pregnant women, people with different height from the average, and especially people with limited mobility and disabilities. For example, at one of the meetings, they talked about the possibilities of modern technologies for people with poor eyesight, hearing or reduced mobility to access all services. ✔Most participants of the meetings noted that the identified areas of barrier-free accessibility are interrelated and need to be addressed by several organisations specialising in certain aspects of this problem. In particular, a high-quality solution to physical barrier issues requires the participation of doctors, engineers, designers, social workers and representatives of local authorities. It is also clear that economic barrier-free access cannot be properly addressed if technical solutions developed for digital and physical barrier-free access are not used to achieve it. ❕ Everyone can join the department's survey on barrier-free accessibility in our community. The questionnaire contains blocks related to physical, digital, informational, social and civic, economic, and educational barriers. You can take the survey until 29 April by following the link: https://cutt.ly/Ww7VzTen ▶ For more information, please visit our website: https://lnkd.in/e4i-tcZT

Driven by a legacy and her father’s pioneering footsteps, Ellington West stepped into the world of health innovation, bringing with her a passion to make life-saving technology accessible for all. Her father, James West, the brilliant mind behind the foil electret microphone, taught her the power of sound and how to tune into what often goes unheard. Together, they inspired a path that led to Sonavi Labs, Inc. With no medical degree, Ellington leaned into her market research expertise, listening and learning, ultimately founding Sonavi to revolutionize healthcare access. Under her leadership, their AI-powered Feelix stethoscope is transforming diagnostics, putting vital technology into the hands of clinicians, community health workers, and families. From asthma to pneumonia, Feelix is the bridge where few others could go, bringing hope to underserved areas across the globe. Today, Ellington has raised over $6.5 million, earned FDA approval, secured 9 patents, and shattered barriers as a Black woman CEO in tech. She embodies resilience and innovation, proving that love for community and family can drive change that reshapes lives. Imagine a world where everyone has the power to protect their health in their hands—that’s the world Ellington is building.
