I watched Nyad on Netflix last night. If you don’t recall the story- Diana Nyad is a long distance swimmer who accomplished many amazing feats and then attempted to swim from Cuba to Florida (a 60 hour ocean swim) at the age of 28. She did not make it and retired. When she turned 60 she decided to try again. On her 5th attempt, she made it. So many lessons here: 1) persistence never dies and when you mix it with the wisdom that comes with age- 💥 ; 2) it takes preparation and planning to accomplish anything great; 3) conditions and timing need to be right too (see the map- you can’t control ocean currents just as you can’t control lots of things); 4) nothing is an individual sport- it takes a phenomenal team with trust to accomplish greatness. And finally: never give up, never stop trying:). As we end the year- I’m so thankful for my team at home and at Compass Experience Labs.

Fifty-eight years ago this week, Walt and Roy Disney held a press conference in downtown Orlando to unveil their ambitious plan - the "Florida Project", which we now know as Walt Disney World.   More than half a century later, Disney continues to be an economic engine fueling Florida’s economy, jobs and tourism as shown in a new study just announced by OxfordEconomics.   📈 @Disney generated $40.3 billion in annual economic impact across the state.  💼 263,000 total jobs, or 1 out of every 32 jobs in Florida, are attributable to Disney. 🏬 #DisneyWorld works with 2,500 small businesses based in Florida.   When announcing the “Florida Project,” Walt Disney said he hoped to “build something that would command the respect of the community.”As we look to the future, Disney will continue to invest in our communities and create a brighter future for all who live, work, and play in the state. How to save money on your Disney World vacation

Tales of Tevye A week ago tomorrow I started my 3rd different "dog obedience" class, which as we all know is really a "human" obedience class. The instructor said in 42 days I will have a "new dog"! It takes a human 21 days to learn something new so it takes a dog twice that, which is 42 days. My plan is that I can take one day a week "off" from practice. Well, formal practice, I can still implement "watch me", sit, stay, wait, etc. in carrying out a normal day. The class is stacked with already well-behaved dogs. One attendee is an instructor on her off-day of being just an owner. My goal has already gone from being the best in the class, to just not being the worst!! If we could live in the basement 24/7 it would look like Tevi was almost perfect. No distractions means no mistakes. It really would look like he listens to me. Once out of the basement, in the park, a store or G-d forbid PetSmart, and all learning goes out the window. So my goal this week is to keep my hand smack in front of his nose with a treat so great he just can't ignore me for something else more interesting. Leaning over while "heeling" and my back might not make it through the 42 days! What could you improve if you got out of your figurative basement?
