Servant leadership, whether it’s a learned skill or an internal morality it is a priceless trait. I have never desired to be a “BOSS”. On the other hand I have always desired the recognition from my peers as a leader, a worker, a fail safe in times of distress. When interviewing applicants for foreman/leadership positions I emphasize “I don’t hire bosses I want leaders, because I am not a boss” It’s hard to respect a boss and even harder for a”boss” to push a team that doesn’t respect them. Don’t push, LEAD! You can pull a chain better then you can push one. As a society I believe we should demonstrate more servant leadership.
As a Trooper, I always appreciated servant leadership. As a Sergeant, it’s my honor to cover the big road on holidays to allow my Troopers the rare opportunity to spend time with their families on special days. #payingitforward #wyominghighwaypatrol #comeworkwithme
