📣After many months of work, we are delighted to share with you the final results of our largest cohort of critically ill COVID-19 patients!! The PICS-COVID19 study raises scientific questions about Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) such as: 🤔 Is the high persistence of PICS sequelae in COVID19 ICU survivors similar in non-COVID19 ICU survivors? 🤔 Why did pain in COVID19 ICU survivors remain stable during the 12-month post-ICU follow-up while other sequelae such as fatigue/dyspnea and functionality improved over time? 🤔 Do neuropsychiatric sequelae develop differently than physical sequelae? 📢 Results from a large cohort of critically ill COVID-19 patients! I would like to highlight the enormous dedication of the clinical researchers to the success of the study. 🚀 It is an example of a well-designed and well-executed study despite the difficulties involved, also taking into account the period in which it was carried out. 🤝 Along with all the interesting aspects pointed out by the PI, I would also like to acknowledge and thank them for trusting me to analyze the data. It was a complex and non-standard analysis. 🤓 Apart from not being within the reach of any statistician, it could intimidate clinicians, who had to defend the interpretation of longitudinal models (mixed effects) with splines in the time variable, which gave the necessary flexibility to capture the various patterns in the evolution of the parameters of interest. 🔝 If you are thinking of designing or analyzing (if you already have the data) longitudinal studies with repeated measures, the models we have applied in this study are the ones to use. 📝If you have any questions, contact me. 👌 You will see that it is not so difficult, and you will be able to conclude your studies with the most appropriate analysis.
