💭 How often do we focus solely on the positives?...💭 Well that's exactly what the WOWW intervention does! 💻 Earlier this week I joined the Reed webinar to develop and expand my EdPsych knowledge. 💡 It was an inspiring presentation on the success of the solution-oriented intervention tool, Working on What Works (WOWW). Designed to focus on the positives and strengths of both teacher and student, the WOWW philosophy is unique in that it engages the classroom as a whole, encouraging collaboration and positivity for the improvement of child behaviour. 👨👨👦👦 Over 90 people from around the world dialled in to learn how WOWW can be applied in an educational setting. An element of the tool that I found particularly charming was what was referred to as a ✨ Sparkle Moment ✨ A sparkle moment is prompted by the phrase ‘I’m thinking of someone who (insert positive behaviour), who am I thinking of?’ This again promotes positive reflection and acknowledgement of good behaviour. Did you miss it? Don't worry! We host one every month! 📲 Join us on 21 March for our next webinar which will be on the topic of “School is Too Much Pressure” with Dr Maddi Popoola. I hope to see you there! 😄 #educationalpsychology #edpsych #EP #internationalEP

Educational Therapists are powerhouses. They combine high-level technical expertise with emotional intelligence that's uniquely applicable to each student. Ed therapists are royalty, in my eyes. Which is why I'm deeply honored by their invitation to present at the Association of Educational Therapists (AET) annual conference, held virtually Nov 1–3rd. I'll present on how to become a "Response Ninja." That is: spotlighting the magical/fleeting space that occurs right AFTER the student speaks and BEFORE we respond. There are numerous ways to leverage this space, to subtly build our students' confidence and mastery, without them even being aware of what we're doing. Hence: ninja!
