Make Lansdowne great again… Dear IRFU, The atmosphere at rugby matches is waning due to increased corporate presence and related excessive drinking. What’s been done is not enough and ignores several drivers which your peers are grappling with. Hate to say it but Jamie George's efforts to revive Twickenham's fan experience with simple measures like altering the players' entrance and playlist adjustments have potential. However, ultimately the IRFU must reengage with its true rugby fans over corporate spectators. The tepid vibe this great article brings out is an issue we cannot overlook. Prioritising the allocation of tickets to real enthusiasts and managing drinking habits rather than lip service could enhance the atmosphere, reminiscent of what's seen at AIL, GAA and FAI Cup finals. Emulating Twickenham's and the WRU proactive stance, the IRFU should forge stronger ties with its fans. This can be achieved by more mindful ticket distribution and by adopting policies that encourage fervor and discourage overconsumption of alcohol particularly in the stands. In order to get that Lansdowne roar back the IRFU needs to align its actions with core rugby values to reignite the passion at Lansdowne Road and stop selling its soul to the corporates and boozers

We know the EES staff are talented, but did you know we have a member of the Mighty Ducks on our team?! When he’s not handling all things Business Development, Rogan is also a keen ice hockey player – did someone say The Flying V?! Rogan’s been with the team for more than 12 months now and brings with him 15 years industry experience both in Australia and overseas. He says his favourite part about freight and logistics is the continued learning. When he’s not at work or chasing a puck on the ice, you might also find him sailing or in the gym – likely with his favourite metal bands playing in his headphones! #ees #shipping #freightforwarding #logistics #supplychain #freightrates #economy #staffprofile

Things to celebrate about #strata number 5. It’s not a zero sum game. Unlike say, an AFL season, which has 18 teams fighting over a single winner’s name etched into the premiership cup, there is no single prize in strata. There are more opportunities to flourish and thrive than any one or two companies can take on. As a consequence, the management community is a collaborative one. We experience genuine relationships being formed between people who would otherwise be cutthroat competitors. I like to think that’s kind of special. And definitely worth celebrating. #ownerscorporation #bodycorporate #property #stratamanagement

Founder of TwentyOne Sports & Entertainment | Content & Club Relations Manager at The PFA. Former footballer in Norway, USA, New Zealand, and Scotland. Specializing in communication, brand strategy, and fan engagement.
Congratulations to Como 1907 on their promotion to Serie A this past weekend, marking an incredible journey from Serie D👏 They've successfully integrated tradition with innovation, ambition with humility, and local elements with international ones, all the while preserving the fundamental essence of what a club stands for. Impressive. Couple of thoughts: 1. Club and community are intrinsically connected. Building a club for the community while appealing to an international audience is no easy feat. Como understands that a club belongs to the community. They've actively involved local businesses, fans, and partners, making everyone feel seen and involved. Clear communication through their platforms, steadily built and ruthlessly prioritized, they’ve attracted people to their story. While the glamour of Como is undeniable, it's important to acknowledge the substantial work that underpins their success beyond the appealing brand/profile. 2. "Always understand that the player is the most important in a team." Following Cesc Fàbregas's coaching journey has been extremely interesting. Named Arsenal captain at 21, his playing career ranks among the greatest midfielders. As he transitioned towards coaching, I had the opportunity to gain insight into his coach journey during an interview conducted 1.5 years ago in Como. A follow-up interview and training session at Colney followed half a year later. What stood out to me was his clear intention to give players the freedom to play. Per the video attached, it’s less about sentiment toward past eras and more about nurturing that individuality and intuition. With current analysis, we often emphasize set systems and positions, but figures like Alonso and Ancelotti have shown us there's more than one path to success. Fàbregas aims to capture this spirt within a framework that allows the players to thrive. Lastly, it’s a reminder that the same dedication required to succeed as a player must be translated to one's next career, paving the way for similar heights. While it's just a promotion, it marks another exciting step in the journey of Fàbregas and Como. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/e4tm7ujR ⚽️ https://lnkd.in/eBcAcg-W 🎥 https://lnkd.in/eic4PZzE Professional Footballers' Association (PFA)

The first time Doug DeVos and John “Hap” Fauth set out to conquer sailing’s America’s Cup, their nine-figure project could hardly have gone worse: The boat capsized and nearly sank. Three years later, DeVos and Fauth are trying again. Both men have plenty of experience with ambitious turnarounds. DeVos is the co-chair of Amway and his family owns the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Orlando Magic. Fauth founded The Churchill Companies, a private investment firm whose holdings range from real estate to agricultural technology. And both have run world-champion sailing programs. But the Cup is different. It entails a multiyear sprint to build a racing boat on the cutting edge of engineering and agreed-upon rules in order to defeat a series of similarly innovative speed demons head-to-head. Only then does a team earn the right to a showdown with the defending champs. No American boat has won the silver ewer, known as the Auld Mug, since Larry Ellison and Oracle Team USA’s comeback victory over New Zealand in 2013. And not only are DeVos and Fauth hoping to add their names next to those of previous syndicate bosses like J. Pierpont Morgan, Harold S. Vanderbilt or Ted Turner, they also want to build a durable operation to keep the team, and country, in contention over the long haul. The big change they had in mind? Make American Magic even more like a pro sports team than before, DeVos said. Today, there is a new boat and another budget that exceeds $100 million. There is a new chief executive. There is a new U.S.-centered design team, new talent on the sailing roster and a new 63,000-square-foot home base in Pensacola, Fla. 🔗 Read more from Aaron Kuriloff: https://lnkd.in/eYawX2yB

Director | Health & Safety Consultant | Podcast Host | England Touch Rugby Referee | Rewriting the Compliance Narrative
So when I tell people I’m a referee for England Touch Rugby and in Health & Safety, a lot of people automatically think “you must really like enforcing rules!” Not true! Ref’ing in touch rugby is slightly different from other sports because the main focus of the officials is on the “outcome of the game.” You’re primarily there to ensure a good outcome for all the players, not just enforce the rules to the letter. So touch rugby referees talk to the players A LOT! It’s termed “pre-loading.” When we’re asked to put a particular focus on a certain rule, this is often to do more with ensuring a level of respect and decorum on the pitch rather than whether players are doing everything correctly. This has taught me so much in terms of how I approach my work, and helped me be more pragmatic while informing conversations with project teams. Rather than saying “this is what we have to do to obey the law” I’ve worked hard to try and understand what the desired outcome of a piece of legislation is, and the work with teams to find a route to achieving the outcome and objective. So do I really love rules? Okay yeah I’m a bit of a legal geek, but only because I like puzzles! And the thing I love most is seeing positive outcomes! 🏆🏆

Like everybody else in the world, I spent my Sunday evening watching the final match of the Euro 2024 between England and Spain. And while the initial connection between football and tech might not seem obvious, Spain's distinctive attitude towards teamwork definitely reminded me of so many leadership offsites I've had with my team. Before the game, one of Spain's players said: “With the ball, we must play like a great team and, when we don’t have it, like a small, humble team with solidarity.” And that's exactly how they played. The Spanish team’s cohesion told a story about a team that is greater than the sum of its parts; whereas England, a team full of 'superstars', lacked the synergy to bring out the best in people. This is a valuable lesson in teamwork for any industry. Running tech teams at SAP, one thing I've always found very effective is to connect personal ambitions to larger goals. By getting everyone personally involved in your organizational 'why', you can create grounds for effective collaboration, innovation and success. There is also something to be said about the fact that half of Spain's players come from regional, relatively modest clubs - watching the match, I got the feeling that Spain was more 'in it to win it'. Here in Israel, it is very much the same. We are a small country competing on a global playing field and I value the mindset this gives us - we don't get complacent because we cannot. I believe true excellence, this no-matter-what attitude, really can come from having that type of perspective on the world and one's position within it. So congratulations to Spain, its players and more importantly its team's collective spirit. What a well-deserved win.
