So here by popular demand is the magic sauce that makes relinking in Avid Media Composer work 100% of the time. It's the Disk Label field, which was added way-back-when to deal with XDCAM optical disks but works perfectly well with modern file-based stuff. Just AMA link your source footage and set the Disk Label field to identify each camera card BEFORE you transcode your proxy files. Edit like mad, then when you want the original media back you choose Disk Label under Source Name in the Relink window. And everything magically gets found without that annoying "No clips were relinked" error message we all know and love (ie hate). Cheers! #avid #mediacomposer #relinkingHell #videoEditing
