Today is DTU Startup Day and I look forward to speak about how we build deep tech champions in Europe. I will be joined by investors Anna Lundin from Norrsken VC and Tommy Ahlers from Look Up Ventures. The three of us come with different backgrounds as well as different perspectives on science based innovation, but I expect us all to be bullish on the potential of deep tech! In our panel talk we will wrap our heads around the journey from lab to market, including how we bridge the gap from university spin-out to the venture journey. All in all, some perspectives on how we build ecosystems fostering bigger, better, and stronger deep tech champions in Europe. With DTU being Danish champion in converting research into innovation - as previously found in an innovation analysis - expectations are high for the event overall, and in particular the +60 participating early-stage companies. These 1-day workshops will help folks understand what sorts of ideas are good fits for  “coordinated research programs” – ARPA programs, Focused Research Organizations (FROs), and other research programs that aren’t good fits for either a startup or an academic lab – and help refine those ideas. 7 days ago the DTU ecosystem once again demonstrated how strong it is. On Friday last week a winner of the 2023 Danish Tech Challenge was announced and awarded a grant of 500,000 DKK. But this year it was extra special. This year was the 10th edition of the Danish Tech Challenge and a celebration of a decade-long partnership with Danish deeptech innovation. Partner in our upcoming PSV DeepTech fund, Anders Kjær was on-site to participate in the award show and he sums up the event in one sentence: “This is just the beginning” With our soon-to-be-raised PSV DeepTech fund we look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with the Danish Tech Challenge and the DTU Ecosystem as whole. The mission of building and supporting paradigm-shifting companies of tomorrow is not a one-man-job - it’s a long, persistent, collaborative effort. And we’re in it for the long haul!
