Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) Fall meeting is finished and what a wealth of information we got. Interesting to hear from operators all over the US experiencing similar headwinds. Volumes are mild, safety is paramount, labor is expensive, and fires are abundant. Pre-shredders won’t eliminate fires, but they do help prevent fires INSIDE your hammermill or material piles. I love seeing videos of our Blue Devil on fire - that means it’s doing its job! ReMA Southeast Region and Shredder Ops Forum are next month following the biggest elephant in any room - the election. Hopefully to follow, new infrastructure bills and trade discussions will help the steel market. Exciting end of the year. #recycledmaterials #metal #recycling #steel #scrap

In the last 12 months alone this equates to over 216 tonnes of rockfibre that has been diverted from landfill sites, instead re-entering the passive fire protection manufacturing process. 🗑️ Reduces waste 🚯 Avoids landfill ♻️ Extends the lifecycle of essential raw materials #recycling #rockfibre #environment #manufacturing

⚠️ Urgent warning from WRA (Wood Recyclers' Association) to construction and demolition companies (C&D) who have been told they must "act now" to prevent the risk of hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste wood, which could be recycled, from being lost. WRA is urging C&D companies to test certain 'amber' waste wood items from demolition as a matter of urgency and share their results with the WRA, to determine which items are hazardous or not. Paving the Way for Sustainability in Road Construction Using Waste Glass and Tire Rubber! 🌍🚗 We’re excited to announce the CR 577 Rehabilitation Project in Dickinson County, Michigan – a pioneering initiative that sets a new standard for road durability and environmental responsibility. This project is a collaboration between Dickinson County Road Commission, Michigan EGLE, Asphalt Plus, Bacco Construction Co., and the Marquette County Waste Management Authority. By incorporating 16% crumb rubber (by binder weight) and 10% waste glass (by aggregate weight) into the asphalt mixture, this innovative project effectively recycles materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. As a result, we've prevented the disposal of approximately 3,464 scrap tires and ~ 628,996 glass beer bottles! Not only does this initiative enhance road longevity, but it also promotes sustainability by reducing waste and utilizing recycled materials. This is an exciting step toward building greener, more resilient infrastructure. #Sustainability #RecycledMaterials #Infrastructure #PavementEngineering #GreenBuilding #WasteReduction #Asphalt #Innovation #CivilEngineering #EnvironmentalImpact #Recycling #Glass #Rubber #Asphalt

🚧 Construction & Demolition Waste Management: Trommel vs. Screen Deck? 🚧 In the world of C&D waste management, there’s no shortage of opinions on how to handle the initial sorting step. I’m curious to hear from those in the field: How do you process your C&D waste, especially at the first pick? Do you find a trommel or a screen deck to be more effective for your needs? Pre-shred or not? Each approach has its advocates, and I’ve heard compelling arguments on both sides. Whether it’s about efficiency, material quality, or equipment maintenance, I’d love to hear your thoughts, insights, and experiences. #ConstructionWaste #WasteManagement #Recycling #Trommel #ScreenDeck #Sustainability

Why does recyclability matter when considering pipe materials? Aren’t factors such as performance capabilities and cost the overriding considerations? Most often, the answer is simple; the best, most capable, long-term, cost-effective pipe available is ductile iron pipe. But did you know that ductile iron is also the only primary full-size-range piping product made from recycled material? Read our article about recyclability and what it means for the utility industry: https://lnkd.in/efJnYzEn #setitandforgetit #ironstrong
