New blog, hot off the press 🔥 The UK is at a pivotal moment in its heating landscape, as engineers work to bolster energy security through the design of new heat networks. These systems, which distribute heat from a central source to multiple residences or buildings, are playing a crucial role in the UK's shift toward cleaner energy. In this "Bringing the Heat" blog, we explore: 1. The growing importance of heat networks 2. Key policies, including the HNTAS scheme for compliance 3. The role of building physics tools in designing these systems For more insights (and more heat-related puns), check out the full blog below! #HNTAS #Heatnetworks #districtenergy #engineering #energyefficiency

Will that spreadsheet you are working on get your building to Net-Zero? 🤔 🤔 If you have not seen it already, check out my blog on how spreadsheets alone will not get your buildings to net-zero. Achieving net-zero emissions in buildings is a complex and critical goal in the fight against climate change. However spreadsheets often provide a static snapshot, lacking the ability to model dynamic, real-time changes in building performance. Read my blog below to find out how to accurately model complex interactions between systems over time, providing a more accurate picture of how a building can get to Net-Zero #NetZero #Sustainability #BuildingDesign #EnergyEfficiency #DynamicSimulation #Spreadsheets #GreenBuilding #ClimateAction

Coming to Digital Construction Week next week in London? If so, make sure to drop by the IES Ltd. stand where Richard Fletcher, Alan Dunn and I will be doing demos of IES' Technology to anyone that is interested in seeing how to use Digital Twin tools to help the built environment get to Net-Zero. See you there!

If your free tomorrow at 1pm, make sure to attend the "Retrofitting the Built Environment" with Alan Dunn.
While admiring the breathtaking views atop Salzburg Mountain, a gentleman shared with me the devastating impact of climate change. It's up to us to take action. Check out this video and register for IES Ltd.'s upcoming webinar on #Retrofit and #Decarbonisation to learn how we can make a difference. Let's work towards a sustainable future together. Thanks to the Green Awards and to Minister Eamon Ryan for presenting IES Ltd. and Dublin City Council with the Green Collaboration award on Tuesday night. It is another massive achievement for the project team who created Digital Twins to optimise the renovation of social housing blocks in Dublin. This collaboration was one of the first projects in Ireland to look at the trade-off between operational energy and embodied carbon as part of a holistic renovation strategy. Also special thanks to Dr. Sabrina Dekker, Ali Grehan, Lorenzo De Donatis, Ruth Kerrigan and Olivier Neu for being instrumental in making this project a success.
