BrightCarbon was certified for our 1% for the Planet giving for 2023 last month. That means we donated 1% of our annual revenue (not profit) for last year to environmental causes. We'll do it again in future years too. Our two largest donations were to Cool Earth and Earthjustice - although we also gave to five national and local charities. Our BrightCarbon environment committee suggested organisations we could donate to, and then all employees were given a chance to vote on those choices - with our giving proportionate to the votes received in different categories. I'm not certain, but I hope that involving the entire team makes this feel like everyone's donation - we all worked to make the money, and we all had a say in where it was spent. 1% of our revenue isn't going to be enough to save the planet, obviously. But if more companies did this, more good would be done. At a time when people are looking for meaning in what they do, this makes every project we deliver count for something bigger too. No greenwashing, no navel-gazing, just one small attempt to do some good. P.S. A photo of the northern lights, which I completely missed last week when they were actually visible from my street.

Today, on the 22nd of April, we celebrate Earth Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about our planet and taking action to protect it. At Bentley, we strive not only to be a successful business but also to have a positive impact on the world around us.   This year, we would like to highlight one of our initiatives that we are particularly proud of: our partnership with Trees for All. As a partner of Trees for All, we make an annual donation to contribute to tree planting efforts, an essential step in preserving our ecosystems and reducing our ecological footprint.   But it doesn't stop there. We also want to involve our customers in this important work. That's why we are introducing a new option during the ordering process: the opportunity to donate a tree. At the end of the year, all donated trees, along with our own contribution, will be added to our donation to Trees for All. Proud to support the Plant a Tree campaign 🌳   We're passionate about making a difference and playing our role in taking care of the environment.    As part of our 2024 colleague survey, to thank our colleagues who took part, we committed to donating £5 to the Plant a Tree campaign for every survey completed. Our amazing colleagues raised £3,500 for the National Trust Plant a Tree campaign.   Head of Sustainability, Gordon Walker, said: "As part of our commitment to being a sustainable company, it's important that we look at ways to make a difference within the areas where we work and live.
