OADC’s success in constructing and operating a pan-African network of world-class, client-centric data centre facilities has been built by a large team of people who work tirelessly on behalf of our clients. They are OADC employees who make up our OADC family, and we want to introduce you to some of them. Meet Tshidi Motloung, our PMO Support, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. 1. What is your role at OADC? I’m currently working as a PMO Support in the PMO department at OADC. My role involves ensuring our project management processes run smoothly by managing documentation, coordinating resources and supporting effective communication among project teams and stakeholders. 2. What do you like about OADC’s culture? What I truly appreciate about OADC’s culture is the strong sense of teamwork and support we share. It’s wonderful to be part of a team where everyone is encouraged to contribute their ideas and collaborate towards common goals. The open and collaborative atmosphere not only fosters personal and professional growth but also ensures that employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. 3. What is the main growth that you have achieved since joining OADC? Since joining OADC, I’ve greatly enhanced my project management and organisational skills. The dynamic and fast-paced environment here has sharpened my ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently. I’ve also deepened my knowledge of project management tools and practices, making me more confident and effective in my role. It’s been an incredibly rewarding learning journey. The trust placed in me to assist senior project managers, coupled with the support and guidance from our department director, has significantly boosted my confidence and made me excited about my growth potential at OADC. 4. What do you do for fun? I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking or discovering new spots. Recently, I’ve been focusing on getting back into reading and cooking, which helps me relax and experiment with new recipes. I got my first major job role in 2010 as an IT project assistant. Initially I was worried that I would not be able to take on this job, as I had little to no experience, but I summoned courage and started learning what I needed to be effective on the job. It was an egovernance project, with the main goal of transforming the entire file transfer and communication process of the state government from analog to digital, and we had to do lots of hardware and software integration. I was responsible for 65 ad hoc NYSC staff, and I made sure the daily routine worked smoothly and tasks were completed without any problems. In addition to that, I attended stakeholder meetings, created project plans, scheduled meetings with vendors, and updated project reports using 𝐦𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝐩𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝐞𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹. I learned and built 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 skills on this job that I have used in so many other job opportunities Although having little experience at first can seem intimidating, learning new things and venturing outside of your comfort zone can lead to success and personal growth.
