Stoneweg has bought the former Comedia cinema on Passeig de Gràcia, which has been closed since January, to give light to a new cultural facility - the future "Museo Carmen Thyssen #Barcelona". Initially, there had been talk of a rental agreement with the owners, the Pla i Planàs families, but negotiations have finally led to a purchase and sale agreement so as not to be restricted and to be able to carry out a major project. The #investment exceeds 100 million euros, considering both the purchase of the property and the adaptation works. 📖➡️ Read the full news here: https://lnkd.in/dsw7p8MU

Yesterday at Tribeca Film Festival Lisboa, it was great bumping into Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas again. It's absolutely true that technology, culture, and the arts can revitalize cities. So, it's wonderful that he's at the festival giving a talk about exactly that. Would love to see even more cities embrace art as a form of economic renewal, development, inspiration, and innovation. #CulturalDiplomacy #UrbanInnovation #TechAndCulture #CreativeCommunities #UrbanPlanning

From Limestone Quarry to World-Class Concert Venue 🎶 Not all quarries end their life in silence. Some find a new purpose—and Dalhalla is one of the most incredible examples. Once a 200-foot-deep limestone quarry in Sweden, it’s now a stunning open-air theater with acoustics rivaling Europe’s best outdoor stages. Since 1995, it’s hosted concerts and performances that echo through its massive stone walls. It’s a powerful reminder that mines and quarries don’t have to be "the end of the story." With vision and creativity, they can be transformed into something completely new. Reclamation isn’t just restoration—it’s reinvention. What’s your favorite example of a reclaimed mine or quarry? Drop it in the comments—I'd love to see more of these transformations. In assessment for UNESCO, council recommends against Estonia Theater annex In a recent assessment for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) regarding a planned annex to the Estonia Theater in Tallinn, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) recommended building an opera house elsewhere, not as an extension to the current building. In its technical review, the Estonian representative to UNESCO Priit Pallum, ICOMOS noted that the planned extension would overshadow the historic Estonia Theater building without any architectural integration, and recommended considering building a new theater elsewhere in Tallinn, in order to realize its architectural potential while at the same time satisfying its operational needs. ICOMOS stressed that if an extension to the historical theater building does remain under consideration, then the scope of the intrusion into the existing building should be defined in the course of a broader debate in order to preserve cultural heritage values, including the physical structure as well as the local context. https://lnkd.in/ddWEyekB #UNESCO #EstoniaTheater #CulturalHeritage #Recommendation #UNESCOassessment

📽️ Volume 2 of Our Rialto Square Theatre Terrazzo Restoration Project is Now Live! 🏛️✨ We're excited to share the progress in Volume 2 of our Rialto Square Theatre Terrazzo Restoration series! In this episode, we take you through the next critical phase of the restoration process. After completing the initial grinding of the historic terrazzo floors, we focused on filling in all the pinholes and small imperfections using a specially mixed resin. This step is vital for ensuring a smooth, even surface before moving on to the honing and polishing stages. Once the pinholes were filled, we removed the excess resin and began honing the terrazzo floor—taking it step-by-step from 200 grit to 3500 grit to refine and smooth the surface, preparing it for the final high-gloss polish. The honing process was incredibly satisfying, as each pass brought out more of the natural beauty of the terrazzo, gradually transforming these historic floors. In this series, we're not just showing you a transformation—we’re sharing the craftsmanship, dedication, and detail that goes into restoring a landmark like the Rialto Square Theatre. It's all about preserving history while breathing new life into these magnificent floors. We would love for you to engage with us on this restoration journey. Let us know your thoughts, and don’t forget to follow us for more in-depth restoration content. Questions or thoughts? What part of the restoration process are you most curious about? My first article on Italy Magazine is about street art festivals transforming Italy's rural area. "In recent years, a wave of urban art initiatives has helped transform some of Italy’s depopulated villages, rekindling the vibrancy of communities left behind due to brain drain, low birth rates and other big-picture cultural and infrastructural issues. Such festivals — often run by local enthusiasts or cosmopolitan artists with roots in the host villages — are helping to redefine Italy’s sleepy hamlets not as relics of bygone eras, but as living, breathing cultural centers." https://lnkd.in/dcsJuv-s
