🔍 Interview Reflections: The Pharmacologist's Dilemma Recently, I had an interesting experience during an interview process that left me pondering the expectations placed on different specializations within our field. Chemists were asked in-depth questions about chemistry, pharmaceutics specialists were quizzed on their expertise, and pharmacognosy experts were tested on their domain knowledge. Each specialist was evaluated based on their core area of expertise. However, as a pharmacologist, I found myself facing questions that spanned all these specializations. It made me wonder—why is a pharmacologist expected to be a jack-of-all-trades? 🤔 Despite the minimum requirement to understand all other domains in pharmacology, is it really necessary to have in-depth knowledge of everything? Shouldn't each specialization be valued for its unique contribution to the field rather than expecting one to master them all? This experience has raised some critical questions about the expectations we place on different roles and the importance of respecting each specialization's depth. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. I'm excited to share that on August 29 and September 24, I obtained my certifications from Biotecnika in the Advanced Program in Pharmacovigilance and Molecular Biology Techniques, with durations of 8 days and 20 days, respectively. Each of these courses has significantly expanded my knowledge in key areas of biotechnology. In the Pharmacovigilance course, I learned about the main software tools used in the field, as well as reviewed case examples and how to accurately complete adverse event reports. Meanwhile, the Molecular Biology Techniques course gave me a deep understanding of new molecular biology techniques, from their preparation to the interpretation of results, enhancing my skills for conducting more precise and efficient research.
