[#ANNUALREPORT 2022] In 2022, EMBRC granted 114 access requests from 144 users: 🔹 Technology platforms were the main type of service used (47%) followed by experimental facilities (22%) and ecosystem access (19%). 🔹 Researchers came from a mix of the biological (59%), chemical (17%) and environmental (10%) sciences as well as health sciences and clinical medicine. 🔹 The majority (52%) received TNA programme funds while others were self-funded (32%) or benefited from international (8%) and national (6%) funding. 🔹 Most (82%) were from European countries; in particular: France, Belgium, Spain and Germany. The SNSF is launching a new round of National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs) on behalf of the federal government. This sixth NCCR call is aimed at researchers in Switzerland who wish to conduct research projects on topics of strategic importance together with one or more home institutions. With the NCCRs, the SNSF promotes long-term research projects of the highest quality. In case you hadn’t heard, the IFSCC Maison G de Navarre Young Scientist Essay Prize is now running every year, supporting a young scientist to attend the next IFSCC Congress. This is great news as the award was previously only given every other year. The deadline for 2024 is 1 April and the winner will be heading to this year’s Congress in Brazil, courtesy of the IFSCC (expenses up to CHF 5,000).
