We are excited to announce an exciting partnership between Teaching at the Right Level Africa and Jigsaw .Together, we’re embarking on a transformative research project aimed at revolutionizing teacher professional development at scale. By leveraging design-based implementation research, this project will explore new ways to provide cost-effective, inclusive, and sustainable teacher professional development in Zambia, Côte d'Ivoire, and Nigeria. Why is this important? In Sub-Saharan Africa, traditional models of teacher professional development - such as one-time, top-down training sessions - have proven to be ineffective and exclusionary, often leaving many teachers unsupported. These methods have limited reach and impact, failing to address the dynamic needs of classroom learning. Our key research goals: 🔍 Assess the effectiveness of TaRL Africa’s teacher professional development throughout the scaling process. 🔍 Identify adaptations that enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the TPD package for long-term government uptake. 🔍 Use these lessons to create evidence-based insights that can improve TPD initiatives not only for the TaRL approach but for education systems across Africa. By addressing these gaps, we hope to deliver valuable insights for policymakers, ultimately leading to more inclusive, impactful, and sustainable teacher development programs. This work is supported by the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange, a joint endeavour with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. #TaRLAfrica #Jigsaw #IDRC #GPE
