Today, iCareBetter announces the termination of its sponsorship for Nancy’s Nook website: nancysnookendo.com This decision comes as iCareBetter experiences remarkable growth. Our platform is expanding daily. 1,000 patients engage with us online daily to find endometriosis experts. To serve these patients, we have over 250 endometriosis providers from several disciplines, and at the moment, four new surgeons are undergoing video vetting. To meet this growth, new approaches and essential decisions are unavoidable. Looking forward, our mission remains clear and energizing. We aim to build a supportive community of providers, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration for endometriosis care, and ensure patients can access the best possible experts for endometriosis surgery and other related care. To succeed in our mission, we must build the highest level of trust. Our offering is grounded in creating a trusted platform where patients can find expert care, providers can support and learn from one another, and the best treatment options can be made available. Achieving this goal will help realize a future where the time from endometriosis symptoms to expert endometriosis care is less than a year. This time is currently more than seven years. Moving forward, we will fully focus on delivering the next phase of our mission while ensuring we remain transparent, impartial, innovative, and patient-centered. The timing of this transition reflects our commitment to scaling our operations and building a thriving community of providers dedicated to the highest standards of care. For our patients, we want to reassure you that our dedication remains intact. We are here to support you in finding the best endometriosis experts. Finding the right expert is the most important step in receiving appropriate endometriosis care. We will continue working tirelessly to provide a trusted database of top endometriosis experts and multidisciplinary options. We are deeply grateful for the partnership and the invaluable contributions Nancy Petersen has made to the endometriosis community. As part of this transition, after several weeks of planning and open communication, iCareBetter is transferring Nancy’s Nook domain ownership to Nancy Peterson. From this point forward, iCareBetter will no longer be responsible for the content or management of that website. Sincerely, Saeid Gholami CEO, iCareBetter

Our study titled "The Role of Gastropexy in Paraesophageal Hernia Repair: A Scoping Review of Current Evidence" has been accepted for publication in "The Surgeon: IF 2.3". I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my coauthors Haneen Kamran, Hamza Shafiq, Umm E Aimen Minhas, Sameen Tahira, Sameen Shahid. I was always excited to be part of this project. Our research sought to investigate the role of Gastropexy in reducing recurrence in patients undergoing paraesophageal hernia repair. Despite advancements in laparoscopic techniques, recurrence rates remain as high as 40% post-repair. The updated SAGES guidelines (2013) made strong recommendations for including gastropexy alongside defect repair, but debate continues around its necessity and effectiveness. Our findings indicate that incorporating GP as an adjunct in PEH repair leads to improved patient outcomes, particularly through decreased hernia recurrence. This is especially pertinent for intraoperatively unstable patients. The data from the included studies demonstrate that GP can be utilized in a variety of surgical settings, from laparoscopic to robotic procedures, and done with various methods and techniques. Most importantly our study indicates that GP can be performed safely in high-risk PEH patients, which further adds to the ongoing discussion about optimizing surgical approaches to improve patient outcomes.

BiVACOR, a clinical-stage medical device company, has accomplished a significant milestone by successfully concluding the initial phase of its FDA Early Feasibility Study (EFS) for the Total Artificial Heart (TAH). Over the period from July to November 2024, five patients grappling with severe biventricular failure underwent implantation of the BiVACOR TAH as a bridge to heart transplant. Encouragingly, all five patients not only received transplants but were also discharged post-surgery. This positive outcome has prompted the FDA to authorize an extension of the study to encompass an additional fifteen patients. This advancement signifies a crucial progression towards a potentially groundbreaking solution for individuals suffering from end-stage heart failure. The current options for bridge-to-transplant procedures often present notable constraints and risks. However, the triumph of the BiVACOR TAH in this initial trial indicates a potentially safer and more efficient approach, offering renewed optimism for patients awaiting a suitable donor heart. Moreover, this development carries broader implications for the healthcare sector, potentially streamlining hospital stays, cutting associated costs, and enhancing patient outcomes. The distinguishing feature of the BiVACOR TAH lies in its innovative design. Its compact nature renders it suitable for a diverse range of patients, while its employment of magnetic levitation technology, akin to that utilized in high-speed trains, enables a single moving part, thereby reducing wear and tear and minimizing blood trauma. This distinctive design is poised to offer a more enduring, dependable, and biocompatible substitute to existing artificial heart technologies. Notably, the device achieved anticipated milestones in the initial five implants without encountering complications or strokes. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/drdVTa7t Daniel Timms Cory Cortese

TRiCares Secures $50 Million Funding for Topaz Heart Valve System TRiCares just received a substantial investment of $50 million to advance the development of a revolutionary heart valve replacement system named Topaz. This innovative system is poised to significantly impact individuals in need of tricuspid valve repairs but are not viable candidates for conventional, extensive surgical procedures. With the infusion of this substantial funding, TRiCares is preparing to undertake crucial tests. Their plans include initiating a study in the US as well as a substantial trial in Europe to assess the efficacy of Topaz. Furthermore, efforts are underway to manufacture additional sizes of the valve to cater to a wider demographic. This funding is not just a monetary boost; it originates from a strategic investor who strongly believes in TRiCares' mission. Interestingly, it comes at a pivotal time as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already granted approval to commence testing later this year. Of particular significance is the fact that Topaz is specifically tailored for individuals unable to undergo open-heart surgery. It offers a less invasive alternative for addressing a serious cardiac issue. Moreover, the market for such valves is projected to witness remarkable growth, with its value surging from $10 million in 2023 to a staggering $2 billion by 2033. This surge in value can be attributed to the increasing adoption of such valves and the growing comfort level among medical practitioners in performing the procedure. Hence, TRiCares is resolutely committed to improving heart health for numerous individuals, and with this substantial funding, they are now closer to realizing this mission. # Thank you Lea D for your submission!
