Very pleased to share this recognition from Singapore Institute of Directors. I've always been a huge proponent of DEI, and as a female leader, I strive to expand my influence so we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for all. On this journey, I chose the path of board governance as core sphere of influence. Over the past year, I've continued on a learning expedition - educating myself on the theory and practice of board governance. One of the key highlights of my learning was appreciating the value of diversity on the board - irrefutable, empirical evidence shows that diverse boards make better decisions. For companies looking to drive sustainable, profitable growth it is imperative to ensure that their boards don't become echo chambers, with every member being cut from same cloth. I firmly believe that, as leaders, we cannot be mere recipients of good governance - we must participate and lead the agenda. In the speech of Minister Gan Kim Yong at MTI's Committee of Supply Debate 2024, below are some initiatives of the government to strengthen the local talent pool for Singaporeans to benefit from the government efforts of business transformation and growth: a.    ‘We will introduce a new initiative, the Global Business Leaders Programme (GBLP), to support key companies in sending their Singaporean middle to senior managers with leadership potential for overseas postings and other developmental opportunities. GBLP participants will be inducted as Singapore Leaders Network Fellows, where they will receive mentoring and grow their professional networks.’ b.    ‘The GBLP will support companies in their regionalisation efforts and in growing a pipeline of Singaporean corporate leaders who can take their businesses to new heights. Reinventing of GCC When business not doing well: Traditionally it has been observed that when the global business environment is uncertain then organizations start controlling their spend on IT. Though they cannot cut their budget on their normal RUN operations, but transformation projects (CHANGE) get on hold. IT service companies who are suppliers to the organizations in the execution of transformation projects get a hit if the business growth projection of any organization is not bright. Since IT service companies work as vendor to these organizations, it is easy for organizations to ramp down vendor’s resources under such a situation. The good part of the IT service companies is that they continuously work for alternate revenue streams across all the domains and technologies. Now since global organizations are moving more towards setting up their own internal Global Capability Centers (GCC) in India for the many obvious reasons, GCC framework should be prepared to overcome such challenges by reinventing themselves to become relevant for the parent organizations.   #GCC #leadership #talentstrategy

While the CEO can play an outsized role in the success of any organisation, what great CEOs and business leaders realise, and this is a position we hold and promote, is that they can only be as effective as their management team which includes these frontline and middle managers I mentioned. What we have seen in our work is that most organisations in Nigeria do not realise the importance of their managers and when they do attach some importance, are not deliberate in upskilling and empowering them and in providing the organisational environment for them to thrive... Within the context of CEO Clubs Greece's Forum on April 25, 2024, the analysis of the impact of Trust on High-Performance Leadership continued with the help of our second keynote speaker, Andy Atkins, Senior VP & Partner, Executive and Team Performance Practice Leader at BTS, and internationally recognized thought leader on Trust. Through specific data collected over years of meticulous relevant research, Mr. Andy Atkins presented in numbers the impact that trust (or lack thereof) can have on business. More specifically trust can reduce: 💠stress by 74% 💠burnout by 40% 💠sick leaves by 13% while increasing: 💠energy by 106% 💠engagement by 76% 💠productivity by 50%. ➡️ Numbers don't lie: that's how important trust can be! Trust can be divided into two categories, relational and transactional, the combination of which brings the best possible results. Relational trust is built through authenticity and vulnerability, that is, when we choose to be ourselves, instilling in others the sentiment that the aspired connection – the essence of trust – is essential and meaningful. On the other hand, transactional trust is built via consistency and transparency. Although transactional trust is easier understood in a business environment and is frequently practiced by those praised for their professionalism, relational trust is a bit more sensitive, as it calls for an openness often misunderstood as a "weakness". Mr. Andy Atkins concluded that: "Trust is paramount for a corporation's success. This is not a hunch anymore; it is clearly backed by numerical analysis and evidence. However, it requires skills that we have been taught for years to avoid, and, as such, today, to achieve the needed levels of trust that will guarantee high-performance leadership, we need to embrace a mindset shift. As a Board member, today I had the valuable opportunity to be a student in a high-caliber environment. At the "Working Together on a Board Challenge" event hosted by ICD Canada, I stood alongside other board leaders, engaged in refining our strategic vision and governance. With a meticulous focus, we conducted discussions on vital issues for organizational excellence: - Corporate Governance and Senior Leadership: Great dialogues on modern methods to strengthen governance and executive leadership, highlighting the need for constant innovation in governance practices to address emerging global and cultural challenges. - Strategic Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: We led assessments on how to enhance communication with critical stakeholders, including major donors, shareholders, and others, to ensure an alliance that sustains strategic autonomy without compromising organizational imperatives. - Advances in Performance Evaluations: Good discussions on incorporating innovative performance evaluations not only among peers but also 360 degrees, aiming not only for transparency but mainly for elevating the overall competence of the board. - Proactive Organizational Change Management: Focus on the importance of leadership that anticipates and shapes structural changes, ensuring alignment with the organization's long-term aspirations and the appropriate use of change management methods for such transformation. Organizational Anti-Fragility Culture: Strategies for developing robust anti-fragility within the organization, capable of facing adversity, transforming powerfully, and capturing new market realities.
