That's a key question. If this new approach by DeepSeek AI makes AI models more efficient, it could significantly reduce the energy demand associated with AI workloads. On the other hand, if it leads to broader AI adoption due to lower costs, total energy demand might still grow, albeit differently. It’s a dynamic worth watching closely, especially for its ripple effects on grid planning and energy infrastructure. What’s your take—efficiency gains or expanding demand? #energy #grid

"DeepSeek’s apparent dramatic improvements in efficiency suggests further AI performance gains may require less energy-intensive “compute” than assumed. That threatens “the bull thesis on independent power producers and most integrated utilities [that] is entirely dependent on data centers,”" https://lnkd.in/eCPr_P76

This is the inevitable next side effect of the corporate AI arms race. We need an equivalent amount of money being directed at increasing compute power efficiency, upgrading the grid, and limiting the energy consumption of data centers before they completely tank the environment.

Best invest in Building Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry, You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
This article highlights the change in electric demand that is coming to power society ‘s appetitive and use of AI. New nuclear power is needed as the power density requires and clean energy needs resulting from these need will demand it. The reliability and resiliency of electric sources will become more a premium.

#BossBaby challenges the #projection of only 38GW of #electric #capacity #growth over the next 5 years. With the #electrification of #transportation and the #growth of #data #centers with #AI, this projection feels a bit low. At least 1 company wants to #leverage existing sites to design once and build many. A little #standardization might help. Not sure they can complete any of these projects in 5 years. https://lnkd.in/ewB6yKfZ Might need some #SMR builds as well.
