Summer Intern at L’Oréal | IIM Ahmedabad PGP ‘24 I BBA. Retail and Fashion Merchandise at FDDI, Noida
As I sit here reflecting on the conclusion of placements at IIMA and the dwindling days of my college journey, a whirlwind of emotions courses through me. The culmination of placements brings with it a mix of relief, accomplishment, and a tinge of melancholy. Months of preparation, anticipation, and nerve-wracking interviews have finally led to this moment of closure. Yet, amidst the celebrations, there's a sense of bittersweetness as I bid farewell to a phase of life filled with growth, learning, and camaraderie. The campus, once bustling with activity and bustling with the energy of ambitious minds, will soon be a memory etched in my mind. As I transition into the final stretch of my college tenure, with just over a month left, I am struck by the realization that this chapter is drawing to a close. The familiar routine of lectures, assignments, and late-night discussions will soon be replaced by the uncertainties and challenges of the real world. More than anything, I am grateful for the holistic education I have received at IIMA – one that extends beyond the confines of textbooks and lectures to encompass real-world experiences, leadership opportunities, and a global perspective. These invaluable lessons will continue to guide me as I embark on the next phase of my journey. In conclusion, as I bid adieu to placements at IIMA and brace myself for the final lap of my college journey, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude, nostalgia, and anticipation. IIMA has not just been a place of learning but a crucible where I have forged lifelong friendships, honed my skills, and discovered my passions.

I had to take a pause from a deeply engaging manuscript sent to me by Marty Neumeier to reflect on an analogy in his upcoming book which among other time-crucial matters peeks at the efficacy of our system of education and knowledge transfer. This caught my attention for 2 reasons – The importance of retaining what’s being learned and the usefulness of it to our domain of influence. Couldn’t help but draw a parallel with the Igbo apprenticeship system and why it’s been successful and adjudged the biggest business incubator in the world. Part of the reason we were drawn to create a hands-on MBA program, after my MBA from the University of Cumbria, is to provide a hands-on recap of the stereophonic impartation of business knowledge to students; which they in turn are expected to apply to problems that require a hands-on approach to fixing. Questions about what inspires deep learning and long-term retention of the knowledge received. What methods in our ancient and ancestral transfer of knowledge that have held the long thread of our unity of purpose together are we neglecting? What is the true value of any knowledge acquired? What is a better and wholistic approach to knowledge building and so on? All our capacity-building programs at Meenistry on Problem-Solving and Innovation are woven around the client's or student's real and existing problems. Nobody ever forgets a solution that they applied to a nagging problem and least of all, one that worked for them.
