A successful grateful engagement strategy not only elevates gratitude within health care organizations but also enables a streamlined and robust approach to generating continuous pools of new prospective donors. Therefore, grateful engagement should be embraced by every member of the organization’s development team and should be a top priority for the organization’s daily work. Check out this piece from Accordant's Erin M. Clinicians aren’t just healers; they are also experts in patient care. Involving them in philanthropic decision-making allows health care organizations to leverage their firsthand experience and knowledge, ensuring funds are directed to areas with the greatest potential to improve health outcomes. When clinicians actively participate in philanthropy, their personal touch helps organizations build deeper, more meaningful relationships, fostering greater donor loyalty and more generous contributions. Their involvement adds a genuine sense of trust and authenticity to the foundation’s mission, enhancing its credibility and appeal. However, clinician involvement is not always easy. Even in the best of times, the overarching overlay of burnout makes engagement difficult. Check out this week's eNews for a piece from Accordant's Susan Attwell, CFRE, on how to cultivate mutually fulfilling clinician-philanthropy partnerships and effectively address clinician burnout simultaneously: https://ow.ly/PQwn50SE6Ep #healthcare #philanthropy #clinicianpartnership

Grateful engagement (formerly known as the “grateful patient program”) is a strategy that guides health care organizations to proactively engage grateful patients and families in sharing and celebrating stories of gratitude. Grateful patient engagement also allows patients and families to express their gratitude for care through philanthropy. A key success factor is the development of strategic partnerships with key internal allies (such as physicians, clinicians, nursing leaders, service line leaders and administrative leaders) to help identify, cultivate and steward grateful patient and family donors. Whether embarking upon your organization’s first grateful engagement strategy or fine-tuning existing efforts, check out this piece from Accordant's Erin M. Stitzel, FAHP, and Debbie Ferguson, CFRE, for five key elements that are essential in guiding your endeavor: https://ow.ly/Ah7Z50SLVyv #healthcare #philanthropy #gratefulengagement #strategy

In our recent webinar with Bruce Bartoo, we learned that focusing on gratitude inspired philanthropy, and shifting to this mindset in every aspect of your work has multiple benefits for your organization. In health care, gratitude inspired philanthropy results in an enhanced patient experience, reduced clinician burnout and expanded philanthropic support. A way to extend gratitude further and inspire others, is to integrate gratitude into your donor recognition and engagement. Share their experiences and inspiration for giving, for others to see and understand. This creates a culture of gratitude among your team, patients, partners and families. Let’s celebrate people investing in people! #Gratitude #InnovativePhilanthropy #DonorRecognition

In the complex world of health care philanthropy, simplicity and linear timelines are rare. With limited resources and budgets, some organizations shy away from focusing energy and resources around advancing a grateful engagement strategy while also trying to campaign, but this must be overcome. The benefits of employing a strategy that combines campaigning and grateful engagement in a coordinated approach can lead to remarkable success in supporting the community. By launching Wave Campaignsᵀᴹ and investing in grateful engagement at the same time, we create a catalyst for philanthropy that surpasses what either strategy can achieve alone. Campaigns are a valuable lever to accelerate successful health care philanthropy programs. Many successful programs are in “constant campaign,” either planning, conducting or wrapping up a campaign at any given time. Campaigns represent a high ROI development activity which can buoy an organization’s fiscal capacity in today’s fluid health care financial environment. However, many leaders aren’t sure where to start when it comes to campaigns. They often ask: “How do we know if we are ready to start a campaign?” or “What does an organization need to have in place to plan and execute a successful campaign?” Here's a checklist from Accordant's Heather Wiley Starankovic, CFRE, CAP, to help you get campaign ready: https://ow.ly/Ka9z50Qu6pJ #healthcare #philanthropy #campaign
