As I enter the final weeks of the MN Emerging Leaders Institute, our focus is on business ethics tomorrow. This subject is both invaluable and complex; it's thought provoking, and no doubt will create robust discussions on how each decision made has a responsibility and accountability to ourselves, our teams, our administrations, our agency and ultimately the citizens of our state. This cannot be understated. I love digging deep into this subject! As I've gained experience and weighed the decisions I've made, and as I've analyzed past situations for the purpose of process improvement, the core principles of decision making with integrity and solid business ethics have always been a priority. When a subject or incident appears easy to deconstruct, consider this: We all see the world with our own unique lens of beliefs and experiences. That lens can be blurred with powerful messaging and opinions from outside factors. I think we can all agree that the last four years have highlighted how a decision can yield very different responses and opinions, depending on your point of view (POV). So what is 'right'? How do you measure good business ethics in your decision making? What's your criteria?
