🤔 What does ‘child-friendly’ space mean in the context of prison environments? Prison environments are often intimidating and not designed with children in mind. Yet, maintaining a close connection between children and their imprisoned parents is vital for their emotional well-being and development. Child-friendly spaces in prisons play a crucial role in helping children feel safe and supported during visits, allowing them to engage in meaningful contact with their parents without the added stress of a harsh environment. When spaces are child-friendly, the benefits to children include increased emotional security, a greater sense of stability and the encouragement to express their emotions more openly and engage in meaningful communication 🎥 A video created by the Department of Justice, Rights and Memory of the Government of Catalonia shows what a child-friendly space looks like in prison.
