Hunger is just the tip of the iceberg. On this #HungerActionDay, we want to highlight the incredible work of organizations across New Jersey that are tirelessly fighting food insecurity. However, hunger is often a symptom of deeper, interconnected factors—what the health sector refers to as social determinants of health. From income inequality and unemployment to housing conditions, education, and access to healthcare, these are all factors that play a crucial role in exacerbating food insecurity. At the Franklin Food Bank, we recognize that addressing hunger alone isn’t enough. That's why we’ve expanded our services beyond food distribution with programs that offer health screenings, SNAP navigation, a client choice market, nutrition workshops, financial literacy, and even school distribution programs—ensuring a holistic approach to community care. To our volunteers, donors, and sponsors—thank you for making it possible to tackle hunger from all angles. Together, we go beyond food security and strive to improve the overall well-being of those we serve, offering support in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Want to learn more about our services? According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the U.S. — including 13 million children — are food insecure. The Feeding America network consists of food banks, pantries, meal programs, state associations, and the Feeding America national organization and works together alongside communities to end hunger in America. RSI and DOE Legacy Management contract teaming partners Amentum and TFE are contributing $300,000 to Feeding America to support nine communities adjacent to LM operations. The funds will support nearby food banks in the Feeding America Network. The communities receiving support from the donation include Monongalia and Preston counties, West Virginia; Pinellas County, Florida; Navajo and Coconino counties, Arizona; Grants, New Mexico; San Miguel County, New Mexico; Grand Junction, Colorado; Westminster, Colorado; Hamilton County, Ohio; and St. Charles County, Missouri. #FeedingAmerica

Rising food costs have made it challenging for people to feed themselves and as a result has stretched many charitable food organizations thin. Our goal with our newly named Food Security Campaign is to help these organizations nourish communities in need. At the Midwest Food Bank, an Atmos Energy community partner, 99% of every donation goes directly toward providing food to people in need. The remaining 1% of income is used for fundraising, costs of leadership, oversight, and other administrative expenses. Midwest Food Bank serves over 100 nonprofit partners in Texas by providing bulk food free of charge. These agencies embrace our communities by serving those in need, such as: Children. Senior citizens. Single-parent families. Veterans. In observance of Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire action to combat hunger, Atmos Energy has donated $2 million to food banks to help provide food security for our neighbors in need. As Atmos Energy continues Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities, we are extremely proud to partner with these local food banks and further their mission in the areas we serve. The following food banks are among the local organizations Atmos Energy is supporting. • 6 Stones, Euless, TX $30,000 • CEC (Community Enrichment Center), North Richland Hills, TX $10,000 • Midwest Food Bank, Haltom City, TX $5,000 Hunger Action Month, a national campaign established by Feeding America in 2008, aims to educate the public about the widespread issue of hunger and encourage individuals, communities, and businesses to act by volunteering, donating, or advocating for policy change. Hunger Awareness Month is an important opportunity for communities to come together and make a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with hunger and food insecurity. #NaturalGas #AtmosEnergy #Partnership #CorporateSocialResponsibility #FuelingSafeAndThrivingCommunities #Energy #FoodInsecurity #Foodbank #CommunityImpact

NYC Meal Pack for 9/11 Day (mealsofhope.org) is an volunteering engagement for 2 hours. As you head towards the packaging area, you are in a sea of humanity. Half the crowd heading out after completing their shift and the other half heading in. The teams are assigned a table and instructed on the various tasks to be performed. It is a mini assembly line which completes packaging an meal packet. As minutes tick by, you raise your head to take a look around. You observe various teams huddled around tables cranking out meal packages. All activities in unison. A bell rung at an table signifies a box is complete. The "I" sees the "We" in action. Actions for the same purpose. The purpose is advancing the (same) goal. During those two hours you are not thinking about commonality or differences. Not about comfort or discomfort. Your focus is on your action. Actions guided by purpose. As progress is made, a warm feeling of content starts building up. There is no sense of success v failure. It is simply about degree of accomplishment. This small experience shapes a powerful mindset which can be applied to other areas. As the saying goes, if you feel stuck, change your perspective. Giving is an opportunity. I feel lucky that I got a chance to be with like-minded individuals again this year. Got to see some new faces, and meetup with familiar ones. 🖖 #911day #mealsofhope #NYSE #ICE
