Scott's article here is spot on. Conceptual debt is probably one of the most challenging and important things content designers tackle. It's expensive as hell to pay down this debt, so please: work with us from day one.

Developers are unaware of the field. Designers dream of ideals. Marketers don't know the product. Customer service knows nothing. I recently had a great opportunity to deeply observe the field, developers, customer service, and marketing firsthand. This experience has changed my decades-long perspective on development and allowed me to reconsider what true development is. In business, we dream of ideals, designers plan these ideals, and developers create the most realistic outcomes within the given resources. And they often fail to consider what might happen when it's actually used in the field. This is where the clash between the field and the developers arises.

ORA - Online Residential Agent This is a web application for all residential finders, agents, and landlords This application is built to bridge the gap between landlords/Agent and prospective tenants, this helps landlords to find tenants for their vacant apartments and vice versa This project is focused on making life easier for people by accessing and finding vacant residents through mobile phones, and the web. The inspiration behind this project is the difficult experience of finding a resident for myself in a new environment where I didn't know anyone and had to be asking and move from one location to the other if a system like ORA had been available, I wouldn't have faced such difficulty of finding myself a place to settle down, since then as a software engineer I had planned to build such idea and finally solve people problem of finding a resident for themselves. with this project, I have learned to work alone, and improve and update my skills as a frontend engineer, The frontend of the project has been built and completed using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript without any frameworks Some features that are completed User Validation, this has to do with identifying a valid user Residential Display: This feature displays all the available residents that will be uploaded by the user Filter feature: this functionality helps the users search for a particular choice of residents and locations. Through embarking on this project I have improved on writing pure codes without depending on any frameworks or libraries, and also improved on how to find the best resources to solve any problem encountered, in future I will be building a unique template that will make my tasks easier and faster. as I engineer I have learned and understand when and where to think and meditate on problems and how to solve them, which has improved my debugging skill As a passionate developer, problem solver, and a person with a growth mindset, I have chosen learning to be my hobby, and I love to learn the hard way, my belief is always on how well not how far... https://lnkd.in/dxNabfJH https://lnkd.in/gEyyNVcf https://lnkd.in/gYCyYUsJ

Designing for #meaning and #purpose has become an area of emphasis when considering how to do design well and result in more successful, impactful design. I have been exploring this from the perspective of #eudaemonia (being one's best self), exploring designers' and user groups' present and future #bestselves when crafting solutions relating to spatial or organizational design...and it makes all the difference. Last month, IDEO came out with a piece entitled "Designing for a Sense of Purpose." Here, Marta Cuciurean-Zapan identifies 4 principles for creating better jobs (and these are accompanied by beautiful visuals by Jenina Yutuc): 1. 🥅 Use new tools to encourage a sense of #purpose: Understanding #prosandcons, prioritizations, and #coredrivers of activities before designing conditions to satisfy/ameliorate, uplift, or enhance those, respectively. 2. 😍 Design for #values and #emotions: Curating tools/activities/spaces that underscore the importance of #autonomy and #creativity from the get-go. 3. 🗺 Keep the work #ecosystem in mind: Considering the nested infrastructure of individuals, teams, organizations, and supported/supportive technologies and understanding those interrelationships. 4. 👯 Co-create with employees to build #trust: Incorporating #codesign (or at minimum engaged user participation) to promote #inclusion and thereby foster better design.
