Am looking forward to attending Elevate Festival tomorrow and Thursday! Have some 1:1 chats I am looking forward to as well as these specific sessions: ⭐ The brilliant and inspirational Shingai Manjengwa speaking on the: Ethically Intelligent: Guardrails and Safety for AI Deployment panel. I know Shingai and have heard her speak many times, and always look forward to it! Don't miss her! She goes beyond the hype due to her deep expertise and very practical approaches. ⭐ Getting A Pulse on The Future of MedTech with Dr. Devin Singh. Both as a digital & system transformation professional AND as a parent of a young daughter who is often at the ER and urgent visits, I deeply appreciate his work. Many other parents might not know he is behind Hero AI - if you go to the SickKids ER you can scan a QR code that leads you to Beacon, which uses AI to accelerate diagnosis. (Side note: Both Shingai Manjengwa and Muhammad Mamdani (who you might recognize from all the recent news coverage on Unity Health Toronto's use of AI to save lives) recommended that I connect with Devin. I am certainly impressed!) ⭐ Building the Future: Public Labs and the New Era of Open Source AI with Mark Surman of Mozilla. While I haven't met Mark yet, I have long been a fan of Mozilla and am a longtime Firefox user. Mark and Mozilla have long worked on ensuring the public side to the internet. They recently unveiled Mozilla's vision of Public AI, "an approach to everything from AI development and deployment that is built with the public interest in mind": https://lnkd.in/gjkicecS It certainly has me interested and wanting to learn more! Hope to see you tomorrow or Thursday! Say hi if you see me, or dm me so we can meet up. If you can't make it, as always happy to share what I learn. #ElevateFest2024 #publicai #aiforthepeople #patientcenteredai #ai #artificialintelligence #humancenteredai

Having the courage to experiment and to step out of the bubble pays off. ✌ One of the reasons why I love my work is stepping into the unknown and try something that’s never been tried before. That’s why designed and conducted a complex process which combined various proven and experimental approaches. We fused CivTech with live deliberative forum, incorporated gamification for participants and crowdsourced wisdom of local communities from Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. And the results of this whole run? Insightful knowledge on improving (not only youth) participation, new network of engaged citizens, a valuable blueprint for a functional forum and above all hope, that change is possible. Check out the full report at: https://lnkd.in/gJpz-XM3 Thanks to all, who contributed to this amazing forum. <3 Photo by: Alex Zolochevskyi

💫 We are thrilled to share the highlights from the first edition of the Trento Open Festival at School of Innovation! With 23 speakers, 6 keynote speakers, 5 panels, 6 workshops, and 2 educational labs for children and teens, this event focused on the three Os: Open Data, Open Hardware, and Open Source Software, exploring the vast opportunities they unlock for innovation. 👥 We attracted a diverse and predominantly young audience, with over 100 participants each day! Ivonne Forno, President of HIT - Hub Innovazione Trentino, remarked, "HIT's mission finds full expression in events like these, where research and business stakeholders engage with the public on themes and approaches such as Free Software and Open Technologies. These initiatives enable economic development and regional well-being through collaboration and community-building practices." - ‘TRENTO OPEN FESTIVAL - Freedom to Innovate’ was promoted by HIT - Hub Innovazione Trentino, in collaboration with the Università di Trento, Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK and Fondazione Ampioraggio, as part of the European project ZOOOM on 3Os and IP and with the support of PagoPA S.p.A.. The offer was enriched thanks to the collaboration of a wide territorial network of associations: Speck&Tech, CoderDolomiti APS, FabLab UniTrento, Associazione Promozione Sociale "MindsHub", Verona FabLab. #TrentoOpenFestival #OpenData #OpenHardware #OpenSource #Innovation #TechCommunity #DigitalTransformation

I have worked in tech for over 20 years and without question, EdTech is the most complex of all the sectors. Scaling EdTech is an immense challenge: the buyer and user are different, you often have to sell to a number of district level decision-makers to embed into government systems, the margins are tiny... especially if you care about reaching children who are more marginalised (opposed to selling to middle-class parents). The list goes on. Recently EIDU announced they were making moves to go open-source. As Innovation Director for EdTech Hub many people asked me what I thought and how it would work? How will they sustain their business? What does it actually mean? Will this unlock scale, faster? So I'm going to ask and answer these questions in conversation with Bernd Roggendorf, EIDU's founder and CTO. Please come along and explore if open-source can crack the code for scaling EdTech.
🚨SPECIAL EVENT 🚨 We’ve got an exciting conversation coming up! Don’t miss EdTech Hub’s Lea Simpson in a deep dive with EIDU Founder, Bernd Roggendorf, following EIDU’s bold move to make their proprietary platform open-source. They’ll explore the opportunities, roadblocks and more of open source scaling in this dynamic chat! Sign up now and get ready to share your questions: https://ow.ly/W54650THSAa #EdTech #OpenSource CC ~ Ciku Mbugua, Rebecca Daltry, Brink, Louis Major, Nariman Moustafa, Verna Lalbeharie, Hannah Simmons, Iman Beoku-Betts, Asad Rahman, David Hollow, Aidan Friedberg
