I recently attended the UX Stakeholder Management class, which provided a great overview. I'm excited for more upcoming online events. #ideatelabs #uxlearning Here are some key takeaways: -After a challenging work situation, take time to reset. It helps bring a fresh perspective. -Balance both individual ideation and group discussions so everyone has a chance to share their ideas. -UX deliverables should include screener/interview guides, sometimes inviting stakeholders to interviews, conducting affinity clustering from research, and synthesizing findings with your cross-functional team. -The most common UX presentation format includes research findings and recommendations, allowing for team collaboration with a polished deck on a longer timeline. -Use a "flash report" for quick presentations of findings—whether in Word, Miro, or Figjam—to tell the story rapidly. -When vetting a UX role, ensure the company is either design-mature or open to evolving and respecting the design process. -Look for areas and blind spots to take initiative after having touch bases with your manager.

This week on UX Foundry ... As I raced to check the teammates I will be working together with on a task this week...few questions ran through my mind. Like...who and who will be on my team? A rhetoric question right? I know. Luckily for me,I found my name on team 10 list, and saw the "agba designers" I was paired with. Omooooo....I became so happy eh!😂 Being on the same team with Onadeko Ghiyas and Ugonna Omeihe is such a gold mine for me...I mean,we created our group almost immediately and jumped on our research. Fixed a meeting time and jumped on a call to plan our project. Less than one hour into our first meetup, and I already learnt how to use #whimsical from Ugonna Omeihe and #htmltodesign plugin from Onadeko Ghiyas 💃💃💃 I'm lucky shey????I know 😂😂😂 ................................... Our task is to redesign the homepage of the National Open University website. First we are to understand the website, study it and make our research including the target audience (which we did). From our research,we discovered that the target audience for the institution(NOUN) are; 👉Working professionals seeking further education. 👉Adults returning to education for older adults 👉Young school students seeking alternative pathways, looking for more flexibility. My next post will feature our brief UX audit for the homepage using heuristics evaluation. "UNDERSTAND YOUR USERS BETTER" Sometimes, stakeholders say things like "We don't have time to ask questions" or "Let's start the project; we'll figure it out later." It means they don't see why we need to understand users before designing. But as a UX designer, it's important to help them see why it's important to understand users. Talking to users helps us understand their problems and what they need. There are tools to help us do this. One tool is called an empathy map. It's like a simple chart that shows what we've learned about a type of user. When we talk to users, we learn a lot from what they say and do. We also learn from their body language and facial expressions. Empathy maps help us understand what users need in an easy way. They also show us where we need to learn more. In the second slide below, I included two empathy maps. Derived from the user interviews and user persona I did, these quadrants delve into the minds of users, examining what they say, think, feel, and do. In the "Says" quadrant: This shows what users say when we talk to them. In the "Thinks" quadrant: This shows what users think, even if they don't say it out loud. In the "Does" quadrant: This shows what users do, like their actions and behaviors. In the "Feels" quadrant: Here, the user's emotions and sentiments are analyzed based on both their statements and behaviors during interviews. Every time we talk to a user, we get closer to understanding them. This helps us make products that are easy to use and accessible to everyone. … What other research tools do you use during your research? Welcome! If this is your first time here🤭 I'm Valentina 💚 A Graphic & UI/UX designer. #empathymap #uxdesign #uxresearch #userinterview

My newest tip for rising UX Designers— learn how to make an incredible deck! We’re talkin beautiful UI and super clear & concise organization/storytelling. Many of your skills as a Designer will be assessed based on your ability to make a deck like this—during the interview process and afterward. If you can present a clear and beautiful deck like this at any place of work, to walk them through your thoughts and process, you will look freaking incredible. Advanced UXers, what are your thoughts on this?

If someone gave me a dollar every time I heard clients or stakeholders say that we can’t do a research because of tight deadlines, I would be ready to retire today 😇🤔 Speed in itself is a meaningless goal, especially when we end up working on fixing the wrong problem. The other day, I had a great conversation with Zuzan Napaki, one of our amazing researchers at Optus, about the importance of slowing down and talking to customers first. We both agreed that it almost always pays off to research the problem (or product) first and “design” later. I would go even further and to say that “research” is simply an integral part of a thorough design process, full stop! Not doing research is not doing the design properly, but perhaps that's just playing with semantics. The point I’m trying to make here is that one of the worst uses of our time as designers is to do something very well that doesn't need to be done at all. Or, as Stephen Covey used to say, “If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster”. Would you agree with these statements?
