I help nonprofit organizations, professional associations, and corporate teams improve team collaboration and decision-making processes to achieve a unified approach to their strategic objectives and mission impact.
Flint Riverkeeper is a non-profit organization that values diversity and inclusion (D&I) in their work. However, they faced a challenge because they lacked the necessary training and confidence to identify strategies that would help them engage in constructive conversations about D&I. To overcome this challenge, they reached out to us for assistance. We provided them with a systematic approach to help them identify practical D&I objectives unique to their organization and aligned with their strategic goals. We reviewed their overall organizational strategic plan, evaluated diversity and inclusion considerations for each objective, and created a draft set of recommendations that highlighted D&I opportunities and offered specific methods to advance D&I. Thanks to our approach, Flint Riverkeeper was able to successfully integrate equity into their planning process, gaining clarity and making an effective plan that they could execute successfully. To read Flint Riverkeeper’s full case study, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/eWjSDsdE If you need help integrating equity into your strategic plan, contact us. We have all heard of people joining Boards of organizations that they support and donating their time, skills, and sometimes money. They say that the help they are providing to the organization is immeasurable. But you might have asked yourself, what is actually in it for them? It is common knowledge that being on a Board, especially one where we support the mission wholeheartedly, provides us with a sense of inner satisfaction, accomplishment, and even a connection to our communities. We are happy that we have made the choice to give back to something we believe in. But are there extrinsic values to being on a Board too? The answer is, absolutely! Becoming a Board member can be an excellent choice to help you advance your career. Is there time and effort involved? Yes. However, the payoffs outweigh the effort and will help you to grow personally while expanding your professional opportunities in many ways. Being a Board member provides you with insight into the internal workings of an organization, builds your confidence when working with a group of diverse people, strengthens your skills, and allows you to expand your professional network. Your professional credibility may grow, and people will see you as a leader in your community. The confidence, motivation, and expertise you receive from being on a Board could even propel you to take the next steps in your career. Do you have a cause that you are enthusiastic about? Think about joining a Board of Trustees. You could benefit from them just as much as they will benefit from you! Sizer School Board of Trustees donate 3-5 of their hours per month and have the great responsibility of maintaining the success of Sizer School for future students. If you are interested in joining the Sizer School Board of Trustees, please contact me at Thebergem@sizerschool.org. Sizer School #NorthCentral #FitchburgMA #BoardofTrustees

As we enter a future that’s more interconnected and interdependent than ever, we’re redefining what global learning looks like. Although the world has changed drastically over the past 92 years, one thing has remained constant: our role to convene and connect Pittsburghers who care about the world. Although our WHAT has remained the same, our HOW has evolved to reflect our changing society. In 2023, we expanded our reach to meet people where they are, whether in a classroom, conference room, or on a bike trail. You can learn about a few of these paths to global connection in our 2023 Annual Report! Founder of Superior IS - Serving the community via Career Mentoring and Non-Profit Consulting, Board member of C.T. Bauer College of Business, UH, Board of COSE, HCU, Chair of ESCH
Attention LinkedIn Community - Help Houston Nonprofits Thrive I'm excited to share an incredible opportunity to impact our community through the Executive Service Corps of Houston (ESCH). Our non-profit is dedicated to supporting other non-profits, and we've found an innovative way to do just that while providing valuable experiential learning opportunities for Junior-Seniors in IT Consulting or Project Management at the University of Houston. Here's how it works: We pair non-profits that have defined technology needs with teams of talented technology students. This creates a powerful multiplier effect, enabling students to gain hands-on experience while helping non-profits overcome their technology challenges. These projects are critical to the students' coursework, ensuring they graduate with the skills and experience needed to succeed in their careers. But we need your help to keep this program thriving and growing. Here are three ways you can get involved: 1. Become a Project Mentor: Share your expertise and guide student teams as they work on real-world projects. Your knowledge and experience can make a tremendous difference in their learning journey. 2. Make a Donation: Your financial support is crucial to sustaining and expanding this program. Every contribution helps us provide more opportunities for students and non-profits alike. 3. Spread the Word: We're looking to partner with additional universities interested in incorporating this program into their curriculum. If you know of any institutions that could benefit from this initiative, please help us connect with them. I invite you to visit our website (https://lnkd.in/gW2S3Pxd) to learn more about the incredible work being done at ESCH. Together, we can create a brighter future for our community by empowering the next generation of technology leaders and supporting the non-profits that make a difference in countless lives. Remember, it never hurts to give back to the community. Join us in this transformative journey and be a part of something extraordinary. Thanks, I appreciate your support! Inclusive Impact Evaluator & Speaker | I leverage the power of stories and narratives to creatively solve organizational challenges
Throwback to when I spoke at the Latinx Student Psychological Association at UC Irvine. I enjoyed my time speaking with other first generation college students about how rewarding it can be to take an unorthodox path in your career. While being intentional about our actions is something I speak a lot about as an inclusive evaluator, flexibility is also an important value. Sometimes our plans work out differently than we aim to and yet remaining flexible in the process of getting to our goals can reap some unexpected rewards. Similarly, when engaging with underserved communities in social services, intentionality should come first in our commitment to inclusion and equity. Yet we must remain flexible in how we get there as we often follow the lead of the communities we serve and not the other way around. #equity #diversity #evaluation #socialimpact #nonprofitleadership #fundraising #leadershipdevelopment #education #publicspeaker #representationmatters #nonprofit

Experienced auditor of Federal bureaus, government contractors, and grantee operations. Reviewed internal controls using Greenbook, FAR, CFR, and contract terms and conditions. Worked with investigators on many projects.
As part of the board development project I am involved in, we took a look at board orientation. After viewing a webinar from Gross-Mendelsohn & Associates called 5 Essential Steps to Building a Better Board for your Non-Profit (https://lnkd.in/ekczJfBb), I developed one recommendation. The recommendation was that a non-profit needs to develop a new board member orientation handbook. The handbook should include a non-binding contract identifying the responsibilities of each board member and the board's responsibility to each individual member so that each member knows what is expected of them. It should also include resumes of each board member so that the new member knows a bit about the other board members and can bond over common interest.
