Provender Bets on Expanding Reach With Cold Storage Purchase. Provender Partners, billed as the top U.S. investor and operator of food-related industrial buildings, bought two Class A cold storage warehouses spanning a total of about 316,000 square feet in Londonderry, New Hampshire, for $67 million, or $212 per square foot, in early 2022. This is a very interesting transaction that says a lot about family offices and trucking companies. This is likely a near billion-dollar transaction which is being undertaken by a single family office (Bechtel family) through their private equity arm. In Canada, there has been a lot of transactions between family offices and trucking firms within the last few years. Also, several families have sold major trucking firms - Bison Transportation, Big Freight Systems, etc. - and have used the proceeds to launch their own family offices (Jessiman Family Investments, Garibaldi Investments, etc.).
