in the course that I have attended with the theme of COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION FOR ACTION organized by the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) . I had the opportunity to learn many things about community organizing which can be described as: ✨️Attracting and Motivating Volunteers✨️ Volunteers are the most important part of an organization who play an invaluable role and can influence the sustainability of the organization. It is important for a community to keep volunteers motivated by providing guidance, support, training, and emphasizing the positive impact the organization has on them. ✨️Inspiring Community Participation✨️ It is important to know the background of your community and its needs before inspiring community members. this course encourages understanding community challenges and their causes. ✨️Apathy or lack of interest in community✨️ participation is a major challenge but also part of community organizing. Therefore, there are strategies to overcome these problems such as connecting with members on a personal level, motivating them, and involving them in activities. ✨️Community Engagement✨️ A lesson that emphasizes the importance of always involving members in the mission of the NGO. With different backgrounds members can indirectly contribute to the work of the NGO in different ways such as through skills, resources, but some contribute through passion and time. ✨️Creating a Successful Grassroots Campaign✨️ Finally, hosted by Omekongo Dibinga, the training discussed how to build a sustainable campaign and engage stakeholders in the campaign.Strategies that can be applied are SMART : ● Strategic ● Measurable ● Achievable ● Realistic ● Timely Effective grassroots campaigns require careful planning, collaborative teamwork, and active engagement with stakeholders to achieve lasting impact. #LearnShareImpact #DareToLead #StudentsXCEOs #StudentsXCEOsEastJava #FutureLeader

🤩 Our next featured #HumansofPAPSN is Richard Foy. Richard is part of our PAPSN Strategic Committee and will be speaking at an upcoming webinar “Ethnic Leadership in New Zealand’s Public Sector – Current and Future” on Tue 18 Jun (🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gvcKmbpS). Richard shares with us his ‘why’ and what PASPN means to him. ❓𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒋𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓? I originally joined the public sector because I wanted to apply my skills (at that time, information technology-based) to solving problems faced by Aotearoa New Zealand...and I thought public service would be the best place to do this. I've since found my skills are imminently transferrable and useful in the public sector and in the various (and diverse) roles I've taken. 💟 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝑨𝑷𝑺𝑵 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖? PAPSN has helped me open up and connect with a very particular part of my own identity through connection with this community. That personal part is my ethnic Chinese identity stemming from my family heritage and history here in Aotearoa New Zealand. The PAPSN aspect enables me to see my identity and place as an individual within a greater community of Pan Asians who are also just trying to find their place and space in this public service. It hasn't (and isn't) always a comfortable or easy place to find oneself, which is why allies and friends within the network is helpful! 💭 𝑨𝒏𝒚 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑷𝑨𝑷𝑺𝑵 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚? Get involved! PAPSN is an employee-led network that depends on its network members to participate and contribute. It's voluntary and outside of your day-to-day mahi, but it's supported by Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission, so you're all good to go! Getting involved means attending events (and networking!) and volunteering to help make events and activities happen for our community. Put your hand up, offer to help...you'll get a lot out of it, and usually much more than you put in. #identity #EthnicLeadership #Diversity #PublicSector #network #NewZealand

👩🏫 We asked Hermina Emiryan and Mariana Georgieva – a team of facilitators of the #CIVICSCOUTS AT #WORK programme in Bulgaria: 'How can companies engage in addressing social issues in Bulgaria?' 📢 Here is what they answered: "Companies need to build their understanding of how social change happens. Understanding that it starts with knowing more about yourself, knowing more about the others and knowing more about the communities they live and function in, what surrounds them and how they can be part of the change and contribute to the solutions, is the key to their social engagement." – Hermina Emiryan and Mariana Georgieva
