Woulda, shoulda, coulda of--is not what you want to say when opportunities become available and no action is taken.
Most SCM Professionals know where the opportunities exist; however, there are several reasons why they can't attack them. More often than not, there needs to be more resources or technology to achieve those hidden opportunities.
I have been there, discussing with CFOs, Comptrollers, and Corporate Finance leaders, and they all want the same thing.............efficiency and accuracy in the processing of Purchase Orders, Compliance, and Exception management.
It is easier said than done; it involves transactional processing, but installing processes to reduce the INRs, RNIs, and Pricing Exceptions and eliminate those root causes is even more challenging.
Friends, these areas can tie up $millions in the system, and when these exceptions start stacking up, it is fast and feels like a never-ending challenge.
Staying in front of this requires experience and technology. Fixing exceptions requires vast knowledge and quick actions to repair and pay invoices in the P2P process.
1. Coordinating with Finance (A/P) and Vendors is time-consuming
2. Distributors are slower in uploading new contract pricing = exceptions
3. Locally negotiated contracts require manual updates to ERP.
4. Checking your EDI provider is a daily requirement
5. Bill Only is a consistent source for exceptions
One invoice could take days to repair, while more are stacking up.
