We are thrilled to announce significant growth this year in our uptake for our Bromley work placements, with 13 students from different schools and colleges attending from February to July. This increase in student numbers is a promising sign for the future of our work placements. Usually, idverde Bromley takes on about 8 students per year, most of whom come from Bromley Prince's Trust. We have been recognised as one of the Prince's Trust's top work placement providers and were nominated for an award in 2019. This year, we have seen a diverse range of students studying at Capel Manor, including mature students in their 60s. One SEND student grew with confidence during their time with us, and we also saw increased diversity among our students. Having this large number of students over the last five months has given us better insight into working with younger aspiring demographics. It sheds light on how the future of the landscaping industry may look and we are pleased to see the potential moving forward!

As we bid adieu to the school year, an influx of gleaming-eyed graduates are gearing up to make their mark on the world. They're packing their dreams and aspirations into sleek suitcases and venturing off to fresh fields of opportunities in cities radiating vibrancy and promise.🎓🌆 Here's to new beginnings! But as these ambitious souls dive headfirst into their careers, let's consider the impact this influx has on the real estate market. The influx of young professionals often signifies a demand surge in prime city-located rental properties. 🏢🌇 • New graduates generally opt for apartment-style living closer to commercial zones. • Not only does this simplify their commute, it opens doors to enjoy the urban lifestyle they crave – bustling coffee shops, vibrant nightlife, abundant retail options, and more. • Rental market movement also paves way for property value appreciation and introduces an attractive investment opportunity for real estate professionals. As the dust of the school year settles, real estate markets may expect atmospheric shifts and vibrancy as these graduates breathe new life into urban landscapes. Lively neighborhoods can benefit, attracting local businesses and creating more job roles, further boosting their desirability. The graduation period is more than just a transitional phase for newly-minted professionals, it's an echo of opportunity to real estate sectors around the constant cycle of life and ambitions. For corporate and residential real estate markets, the closing school bell might just be the starting gun. Invest in the cycle of life, invest in real estate. #RealEstate #Graduation #CareerOpportunities #UrbanLife

Social Value and Stakeholder Manager, Speaker, Educator, STEM Ambassador , Employment Advisory Board (HMPPS)
Reflective Wednesday Bit fresh today, last week look back. Deborah Nickless and I attended the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Birmingham jobcentre, and delivered a session to a over 50s cohort to discuss the opportunities that are available within construction. Not long ago, I gave a presentation at a school and explained that roles within construction are vast and this presentation that Deborah Nickless and myself gave was along the same lines. I am a realist, I also like to put things into perspective and a positive one at that. Sometimes, Apprentices and graduates say that lack of experience can go against them, someone older will say their age is against them. It’s for us as employers in construction and all industries to ensure this thought process changes and make opportunities available to all. We all learn from each other, age, race, gender, backgrounds, lived experience etc, all are needed to create a diverse workforce and something that we are delivering on and all organisations should be delivering upon. #opportunities #experiencedcandidates #inexperiencedcandidates #socialvalue #employmentopportunities #employmentsupport #construction #trades #civils #occupation #allindustries #dwp2024 #birminghamcitycouncil #apprenticeshipsforall #graduates #equalityforall #diversitymatters #options John Sisk & Son Ltd #wearesisk #socialvaluematters #localopportunities

I love to mentor, to seek, to find answers to those everyday questions/| PPD DIPLOMA/DISC/NLP Practitioner/photography enthusiast, looking through the lens of life to offer solutions
#Networking and #Connecting up here in the Highlands of Scotland Inverness Chamber of Commerce Anete Līcīte Rajkumar Dhanaraj Andrew Stott Cristian Voinea It certainly has been a week of networking in #inverness. As a relative newbie to the Highlands it’s heartwarming to connect with lovely people such as Nicky Marr, chatting with her and discovering. Earlier this week Revolution Bar with #Impact30 hosted by Gillian McGill and later in the week Inverness Chamber of Commerce #breakfastmeeting to find out more about Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport. Calum MacPherson, the guest speaker spoke clearly and succinctly about the benefits and challenges of the Freeport, about the economic potential for the #highlands Some of the key points that resonated with me was the possibly bigger and better job opportunities, keeping the future young workforce here in the Highlands, instead of moving away or if they have moved, to return with bigger and brighter prospects. Large investment companies creating job opportunities for apprenticeships. I believe the Highlands really need more skilled people and UHI would benefit from having more apprentices on their apprenticeship programme. I also liked the notion of big investment companies, using local services and traders to supply them with as much of their needs as possible, bringing in more wealth and spreading this all around. So these were some of the areas of #opportunites discussed 1. Supply chain 2 Inward investment 3 Infrastructure improvements - e.g sports facilities, roads 4.Profile - encouraging more from #Holyrood to visit here 5. Improved services 6. Biodiversity Hubs I hope more thought will be given to the #outlyingcommunities and #childcare What were some of the #challenges 1 Grid connections 2. Housing 3. Workforce - I mentioned this above 4. Services - need to support local services - I mentioned this above 5. Momentum - Timing - According to Callum, the Highlands is ready and in the right place at the right time. - Let's hope so. There was a lot more, but I'm not writing a book here and for many of you who were there #invernesschambermembers, would love if you could add/comment with what your #keytakeaways were from this meeting. On a lighter note, Drumossie Hotel put on a resplendent breakfast, but no time to eat. picture created by : Shaiith

Alumni Spotlight: Ginger Clark, CPRP '23 B.S. Natural Resource Tourism - Online Ginger graduated with the NRT online degree to pair with her career in parks and recreation. She is currently the manager of the Great Miami Riverway in Dayton, Ohio. She works with a coalition of agencies to manage the Great Miami Riverway Placemaking Initiative, which have goals to develop and implement ongoing marketing, planning, and programming to: • Increase use of recreational, historical, and cultural assets • Attract more visitors • Support economic development • Strengthen river corridor neighborhoods Q&A with Ginger: What are you most excited about with your future career? "I'm most excited to be part of an initiative that is revitalizing communities and unlocking economic potential through the power of connected greenways and recreational amenities. I'm inspired by the Riverway's mission of building a strong, vibrant network of communities, connected by 99 miles of river, by increasing economic and community investment to attract more visitors, customers, jobs, and talented workers to southwest Ohio." During school, did you gain experience with a related job? "While acquiring my CSU degree online, I was able to work full-time at Centerville-Washington Park District, a parks and recreation agency that maintains 51 parks in southwest Ohio. This allowed me to gain experience, a professional certification, and build many of the skills necessary to secure my new position. It also provided networking opportunities, which is crucial. The flexibility of asynchronous classes was key in accommodating work experience and a solid educational foundation simultaneously." What was your favorite HDNR course and why? "That's a tough question, because I took many quality courses at CSU that enriched me in different ways, several of which that stand out. If I was pressed to pick a favorite I suppose it would be Social Aspects of Natural Resource Management with Jon Salerno. The course opened my eyes to the role of social science in natural resource management and conservation, and how it is all inherently linked to human behavior, values, attitudes, and decision-making processes. I thought it was really valuable to see the real world application of HDNR concepts as Jon invited a variety of social scientists to share their career trajectories with the students." #HDNR #NRT #naturebasedtourism #tourism Warner College of Natural Resources #alumni

Passionate Marketer 👩💻 | AR Advocate for construction 📱 | Head of Marketing & Communications at GAMMA Technologies
🤔 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲? 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 🇬🇧 Alright, let’s face it—construction in the US is hurting for new blood. With the median age of workers pushing 43, younger people just aren’t stepping up in big numbers. It’s crazy to think that 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 of the construction workforce is under 34❗ So, we’ve got a real problem on our hands, and it’s not going away unless we shake things up. How can we encourage younger generations to look at construction as more than “just another job”? 🤔 Meanwhile, over in the UK, they’re doing 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. I read a recent article (Aug 2024) about this positive shift, and it has me thinking about how we could apply some of these strategies in the US (🔗 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴) So, get this: in UK schools, construction has actually made it into 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽-𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀. WHY? Because 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻, getting into schools, and showing them what construction is all about. They’re proving it’s a career with 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄. By the time these students hit 16, they’re already thinking, “Hey, this could be for me.” Imagine if they did that in the US? If young Americans could see for themselves that construction is more than hard hats and muddy boots. It’s a field where you can 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. Research in the UK shows that 𝟵𝟳% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 have seen major benefits from engaging young people early, even slashing recruitment costs. So, why can’t the US do the same? How do we make construction a top choice again? 🏆 Apprenticeships, alternative paths to college, and maybe a little 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁” 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲. What would it take to 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗴𝗼-𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 for the next generation? Should we be going into high schools and showing them what we’ve got? 💭 Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. #LaborShortageSolutions #YouthInConstruction #ConstructionCareers

To help them acclimate to campus life, all incoming Stonehill College students are required to take a one-credit “First-Year Experience (FYE)” course during their first semester. Volunteer faculty, staff and returning students facilitate this class. We recently asked this year’s FYE facilitators to offer their best advice on studying, figuring out the best career fit, and making friends in college. “Accept change, confusion and new experiences,” Michael Sheehan ’25 said. “It’s completely normal to not be quite sure what you want to do. My best recommendation is to say ‘yes’ to classes or experiences outside your major. They can be quite eye-opening.” Visit our website to read other tips offered by our FYE facilitators: https://zurl.co/zBmO
