The International Day of Education is commemorated each year on January 24th, with this year marking the sixth celebration under the theme "Learning for Lasting Peace." Here are some suggested activities to consider participating in: 🔶 Learn About Other Cultures 🔷 Dedicate Time to Learn a New Language 🔶 Share Your Knowledge 🔷 Promote Inclusivity and Diversity 🔶 Visit a Museum or Cultural Institution 🔷 Express Gratitude to Your Educators 🔶 Take Your Child to the Library Despite my commitment to a full day of training, my contribution to the International Education Day is to share three focused and intentional questions with you. These questions aim to set a positive tone for your day and guide your mindset and priorities: ✅ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲? Set clear intentions to stay focused on what truly matters. ✅ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲? Consider how your actions, interactions, or work can positively influence others or the environment around you ✅ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲? Prioritize self-care and explore strategies to navigate challenges effectively. Have a great day ahead Nicoleta #education #knowledgesharing #knowledgeshare

"Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school." – Albert Einstein -> I remember one of my school incident when my teacher asks the difference between #Literacy & #education and whole class replied both are same . My teacher smiled & told us that there is difference between being literate and being educated. -> I was amazed that time but now I understand that one may be called literate on the basis of their reading and writing ability but Education reflects in behavior & actions. -> Literacy is need for individual to survive but Education adds value to life. No doubt Literacy is one of the factor to measure country's progress but true enlightement is how the knowledge is being implemented in life while making connections ,adding values to community and many more. " Literacy is a step to Education " The way to holistic growth in terms of knowledge, behavior & sensitivity goes through learning . So, it is important to be literate for being educated. 2024 International Literacy day (8 September) theme :- Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace.” 🔹️Empower Minds, Change Lives: Celebrate World Literacy Day!" #UNESCO #internationalliteracyday #education #Literacy #growth

Celebrating International Education Day: A Journey Through Learning and Growth 🪴 Today, as we mark International Education Day, it's a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the profound and transformative power of education. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's a journey of discovery, understanding, and personal growth that shapes individuals and societies. Did you know that the concept of formal education dates back over 2,500 years? Ancient Greece was one of the first societies to emphasize education for its citizens, believing it was essential for a well-functioning democracy. Fast forward to today, and education has evolved dramatically, adapting to the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. In our digital age, education has taken on new dimensions. It's no longer confined to the walls of a classroom. Online learning platforms, digital resources, and virtual classrooms have revolutionized how we access and engage with information. The focus has shifted from rote learning to developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, preparing learners not just for a job, but for life. As pedagogist and teacher, I am constantly inspired by the resilience and adaptability of learners. The recent global challenges have underscored the importance of education as a tool for understanding and solving complex problems. It has also highlighted the need for inclusivity and accessibility in education, ensuring that every learner, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. Let's take this day to appreciate the educators, learners, and all those who contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of education. Here's to nurturing a love for lifelong learning and shaping a brighter future for all! #InternationalEducationDay #Learning #Growth #EducationForAll

In an era where isolationism and nationalism threaten to divide humanity, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of collaboration, dialogue, and shared learning, writes IIE Co-President Sarah Ilchman. “Students and scholars who have engaged in international education stand on the front lines of this collective action. We must continue to be advocates for equity, access, and cross-cultural collaboration and exercise our right to vote.” https://lnkd.in/dF5px9kQ

"Immersing oneself in a new place among people different from ourselves beckons us to challenge stereotypes, to dismantle walls, and to bridge divides… the challenges we face transcend national borders, and thus, our responses must be global and grounded in the principles of cooperation and collective action." Please take a look at my recent blog post for Institute of International Education, where I highlight the importance of international educational exchanges and why we should all advocate for them. #iieglobal #intled #educationalexchange https://lnkd.in/gjhEthCN

In the article below, I explore more about the concept of access i international education and how there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. When everyone has equal access, education can open doors and remove barriers. In order to create the access students require, we must customize our solutions to connect back to their individual needs, environments, and circumstances. This one of the reasons I'm so committed to the Institute of International Education Center for Access and Equity where we prioritize multiple pathways in global learning. #equity #access #iie #intled

IN HONOR OF GLOBAL EDUCATION By Fatima Muritala Is it just me or do other people also always look forward to hearing international students' commencement speeches? Thanks to the distinctive teaching approach used in the #ukeducation which fosters critical thinking skills, exposes students to new technologies, cutting-edge theories, and an intriguing range of viewpoints. Students also develop an excellent command of English, confidence, creativity, a rewarding and exciting future. In my opinion, their graduation gowns are exquisite, and students look stunning in them. Before leaving the school grounds, in my opinion, students ought to have the chance to tell their story. Every student have a different journey to tell, one that includes their starting point, obstacles they faced in school, the connections they made, and their growth on both a personal and professional level. I would do well to put in the effort to become the valedictorian on graduation day if I ever have the chance to attend an international school. I can't keep my story to myself; someone has to be inspired, and hearing about real-life experiences gives thousands of lives a second chance at hope. Going back to African schools, a major question is, "How do we come about those theories that were designed for a developed country? There are a lot of theories we use in our educational systems that are not applicable for a developing country. Discussions around hunger, poverty, insecurities isn't a topic for a developed nation; instead, the advancement and application of cutting-edge technologies should speak for themselves by producing completed goods and opening up markets. Can we at least replicate giving students flowers on graduation day and giving them the chance to give a speech about their #educational journey, this could mean the world to students like myself and others. I eagerly await Sadiya Murtala speech upon graduation from The University of Edinburgh all thanks to Mastercard Foundation🎈 I am grateful to all the schools that are helping these dreams come true, and the world is celebrating you. Like me, there are others who eagerly anticipate each graduation ceremony that you have thoughtfully planned, it is always beautiful to watch🎊🎊 ©️Fatima Muritala #linkedin #internationaleducation #internationalcooperation #education #innovationforgood #creativecommunity #storytelling
