💡 I am thrilled to mention that our paper on "Low-Complexity Detection Using Channel Dimensionality Reduction in 6G Uplink Systems" has been accepted for the IEEE 99th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC) 2024. 1️⃣ For a massive MIMO uplink system, our low-complexity signal detection scheme presents a dimensionally-reduced channel matrix and a dimensionally-reduced received signal vector, obtained through multiplication by a sign-based reduction matrix. This breakthrough approach achieves a computational complexity independent of the number of base station antennas in massive and ultra-massive MIMO. 2️⃣ Simulation results show promising outcomes. Albeit with a slight compromise in the BER performance, the complexity achieved is less than 1% of the existing detection schemes. As all previous detection schemes have had computational complexity as a function of the number of BS antennas, the complexity being independent of BS antennas is a significant result, leading towards an extremely low-complexity detection in the upcoming age of ultra-massive MIMO in 6G. This groundbreaking study, authored by Ju Song Rim, Man Gun Ri, Se Hun Pak and U Song Kim from Kim Chaek University of Technology, focuses on "FCVM(i): Integrated FCNP-VWA-MCDM(i) Methods for On-Demand Charging Scheduling in Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks (WRSNs)". This cutting-edge research tackles the critical challenges in wireless sensor networks, specifically regarding energy efficiency and charging scheduling for sensor nodes. It proposes novel integrated methods combining Fuzzy Cognitive Network Process (FCNP), Variable Weight Analysis (VWA), and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques to optimize charging schedules and prolong network life. This marks a significant milestone for our journal, as it broadens our global reach and underscores our commitment to publishing innovative research from diverse regions around the world. Winter semester ends, examination time starts. Good time for professors to prepare the next semester. Summer semester 2024, I will lecture in different study programs in different modules. Almost all have in common, that (industrial) communication plays a role. This is why I have developed a lab called "Communication Lab" where different communication technology can be tested and analysed. In the first concept, LAN, (industrial) Wi-Fi, IO-Link, Barcodes, RFID and LoRa are addressed. Many thanks to Volker Onderka from wenglor sensoric group for the hardware sponsoring for the IO-Link part. In the picture, you can see how I develop the setup for LAN/Wi-Fi speed measurement. Using the tool iperf3 on a Raspberry Pi, the students can measure wired and wireless communication speed and quality via LAN and Wi-Fi and interpret it. OTH Amberg-Weiden

#DYK that #OnThisDay in 1932 Norman Abramson was born, American computer scientist who created ALOHANET, the first modern data network, which formed the basis of the protocols essential in the Ethernet now in wide use. It opened in 1970, operating at 9600 bits per second, using radio to provide a wireless packet-switched data network between several Hawaii islands. Its innovations included the first packet radio sensors, the first packet radio repeaters, the first satellite packet network and the first radio access to the Internet.
