Digital Twins are data-hungry systems 🤖 They need a lot of good quality data to represent the physical world 🏙 and provide actionable insights to decision makers 💡 In BIPED, we are using data from Center Denmark's platform to build an accurate, usable digital twin of a positive energy district in Aarhus. I'm thrilled to announce that my latest research article, "Unlocking the potential of long-duration energy storage: Pathways to net-zero emissions through global innovation and collaboration," has been published in the Elsevier Journal of Energy Storage! 🌍🔋with an Impact Factor 9 In this study, we explore the critical role of Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES) in achieving net-zero emissions. We delve into various technologies, including thermal storage, flow batteries, compressed air energy storage, and pumped hydro storage. Our findings highlight the necessity of international collaboration in R&D to overcome the technological, financial, and regulatory challenges facing LDES. I had a great experience at the #MEDPOWER conference in Athens, presenting our paper titled “Hosting Capacity Within DERMS: Seamless Integration of Distributed Energy Resources and Electric Vehicles.” This paper is the result of a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Schneider Electric Hub, and DerMag Consulting International. We analyzed a real-life substation’s ability to accommodate a large #EV charging station alongside a 3-MW solar plant. Presented case studies highlight how #DERMS empowers DSOs to integrate and actively manage flexibility from both existing and new #DERs, ensuring optimal grid operation without technical violations. #energytransition #DERMS #smartgrids #sustainableenergy
