Ahead of Matthew's run to every Premier League stadium we wanted to highlight why he, you, and local businesses, are coming together for Mission 135. Mission 135's goal is to raise £405,000 across Club 135, Network 135, and Team 135. Of course, the money is incredibly important in maintaining our suicide prevention and bereavement support services, but it's more than just a fundraising campaign. It's about people. It's about the 135. On average, every death by suicide affects 135 people. That equates to more than 760,000 people last year in the UK alone. We believe the best way to support the 135 is by preventing the 1 from taking their life. That's our goal. That's our mission. So thank you for every mile, every cake baked, and every profit shared. Together we can, and will, save lives, support communities, and prevent suicide. Join our mission: https://lnkd.in/eTS8UHqr #Mission135 #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness

Have you ever thought about these scenarios: Being an elderly person faced with having to sell the only home you’ve ever known. Unsure of what lies ahead for you and all of the memories made in your home. Will you re-locate to an assisted living facility or with family? What if the change forces you out of the city or state you’ve grown to love? Being an elderly person on a fixed income that can no longer maintain your home in liveable conditions. Constantly faced with the fears of needed repairs. Unsure of who you can safely reach out to for assistance/resources. Living with the threats of failing health in a failing environment. You’re immediate family reside in another state or city, making support difficult to obtain. Being an elderly person that can no longer live on your own and you have nowhere to go. You are estranged from your family and your friends aren’t able to help you. I’ve experienced each one of those scenarios and was able to bring relief to my client-family. I’m sure you have heard of or experienced similar scenarios with your family or friends. Providing resources and services are costly and that is why I’m asking for your support. Support to ensure that our elderly neighbors are supported through one of the most difficult transitions in life. Please feel free to reach out with any resources and services you can provide. You can also donate monetarily at http://spot.fund/p6hzjfsc Thanks for reading & your support!

It can be hard to know what to do if you are worried about someone that may be experiencing abuse. Creating a safe, private space to talk is a great first step. Be clear that you would never judge them and let them that you are worried and want to support them. Be mindful that they need time to open up and may not share anything in your first conversation. If they do talk, listen. Take them seriously and reassure them that you believe what they’re saying. Encourage them to contact support services that can help them break free from abuse. Be understanding. Leaving an abusive situation isn’t easy and they may need time to make arrangements. Do not pressure them, support them as they move at their own pace. If you find yourself in an emergency situation, call 999. You can support our families as they build futures free from abuse by donating £16 today, https://lnkd.in/gaQuCy6x #GivingTuesday

She and her grandson are freezing in these temperatures. While we are pursuing legal action, that doesn't fix the fact that they need warmth right now. We need to raise $500 to get her into a hotel for a few nights until we can sort this out. 🙏🙏 This is an urgent need—a life-and-death situation for a survivor and her grandson who deserve better. Immediate Need: I have a survivor leader who has no heat in her home, for her and her grandson. we are searching for emergency assistance if anyone knows of any available support in Virginia Beach/Norfolk? While she will be looking into legal actions when she can, her immediate need is heat. She has spent the last of her money on a hotel (that her landlord was supposed to pay, but is refusing) and she can no longer sustain this. I can accept donations and ensure they will fully get to her. It always breaks my heart to see survivors who are giving back, using their pain for purpose and the support of others, still struggling to maintain basic needs like heat for their families. Please send any resources you have way!

(Y'all I just had a genius idea!!!) Let’s Put Our Hotel Points Where Our Hearts Are- Right now, across the country, countless people are facing the brutal reality of winter or the brutal reality of wild fires without stable housing. Survivors. Veterans. Families. Victims. People who have done everything right but still find themselves without a safe place to go. One of them is a survivor leader and her grandson in Virginia. Their home was just condemned. No electricity. No support from the landlord. And while we will pursue legal action on her behalf, that doesn’t help them right now. Others are community members we serve in Memphis. The amazing neighborhoods and folks of South Memphis. ❤️❤️❤️ Both VA and TN have been slammed with double digits inches of snow. Others are in CA - their whole lives devastated by fires. What they need right now is safety, warmth, and stability. Here’s where we come in. Most of us don’t even think about our hotel rewards points— they sit there, accumulating, until they expire. But what if those points could literally save lives? Think about it: ✅ Many people aren’t traveling right now due to weather. ✅ Hotel points expire if they aren’t used. ✅ Those points can be donated to put someone in a warm, safe place. We need to collectively pool our points to: - help this survivor and her grandson stay somewhere safe while we work on a long-term housing solution. - help our incredible community of friends on the streets of South Memphis stay warm. -help organizations like Fill the Needs provide direct boots on the ground resources to victims of the CA fires. If you have points with hotel rewards programs, let’s put them to use. This is how we show up. This is how we take care of each other. This is how we turn something small—something most people forget about—into something that changes lives. Drop a comment, DM me, or email if you have hotel points you can contribute. Let’s make this happen. I also can accept donations for the survivor in Virginia and can send you to the donation link page for any Memphis cash donations----> wefightmonsters.org If you want to donate directly to the CA wildfire response -----> Fill the Needs & Amy Sins Filltheneeds.org I am going to tag some of my people here because I think this is such a good idea and lots of y'all travel a lot, and know people who travel a lot, and have huge networks and I'd appreciate you sharing! As you celebrate Independence Day, remember that we have a long way to go to achieve and protect the independence and freedom for the citizens in our country. For victims and survivors of domestic violence, independence often feels intangible. For them, independence means many things, such as owning their own bank account, housing, accessible transportation, buying groceries, and much, much more. CAWC does everything we can to make all of these milestones possible for our clients and families working to rid their lives of abuse. Through counseling, life skills classes, in-kind donations, and more, we are an essential support system to help adults and families rebuild their lives. #bookreview of When Helping Hurts by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert Has a homeless person ever asked you for money? It's uncomfortable because we know we ought do more than give a couple dollars, but we're also worried our donation will be wasted on an addiction. When Helping Hurts explains that most (well-intended!) Christian charity work creates more harm than good. When we paint homes for able-bodied people, when we give out free food to families capable of working for themselves (and so on), we reinforce dependency instead of helping people to rise up to self-sufficiency. The practical principles in this book explain how to identify and solve the real problems homeless and other charity-dependent people face. Have you thought about fundraising for MK Act? Support the Last Resort Fund: Help Us Reach Our Goal of £5,000 a Month Over the past year, we have supported over 2,000 victim-survivors of domestic abuse in Milton Keynes. Each individual's journey and needs are unique, and the Last Resort Fund has been crucial in providing tailored assistance. Here are a few ways the fund has recently made a difference: 🟢Dental Work: Covered the cost of dental treatment for a victim-survivor after an assault. 🟢Transportation: Provided funds for safe transportation to a refuge. 🟢Housing Essentials: Helped a family with essentials as they moved into a new home. To continue meeting the growing demand for our services, we aim to raise £5,000 each month. Your support can help us ensure that survivors of domestic abuse receive the immediate and practical assistance they need. How You Can Help: 🟢Donate: Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. 🟢Spread the Word: Share our mission with your network. 🟢Volunteer: Get involved and help us make a lasting impact. Together, we can provide hope and support to those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making a difference.
