Managing Director at IFC - International Finance Corporation

Africa stands on the threshold of a new economic renaissance – buoyed in part by its young, dynamic, and fast-growing population, about 60% of whom are under the age of 25. The creative industries, including sports and entrainment, are emerging as important growth engines and a source of jobs in the region. Delighted to announce that IFC - International Finance Corporation plans to further explore new opportunities to accelerate the growth of sports and entertainment in Africa, alongside Proparco Agence Française de Développement and Helios Investment Partners. These efforts are expected to stimulate more private sector participation in the sectors, support economic development, while encouraging local talent and innovation. I agree, however there are so many challanges facing Western businesses wishing to engage and do business in Africa. The business culture is also very dificult to work with in many parts. We have been trying for the last four years with no succeess. Would love to meet with you and discuss opportunities and explore how we can work with IFC to open up the African markets. Africa has so much potential but it is extremely difficult to work, sadly most businesses do not put much emphasis on time, it is as if time has no value. We are still eager to do work in Africa but we need a strong partner to back us and help us navigate through those difficulties.

Makhtar Diop This is a refreshing news, as well as a confirmation to IFC - International Finance Corporation commitment to Africa's youths, as well as its creative and sports industries. I look forward to more of these collaborations across board, to bring to the fore the diversity and richness of the continent's culture, heritage, and human capital, especially its youths. I'm tagging some of the continent's stakeholders in these areas, and hopefully, conversations will begin for the future of Africa. It's inspiring to see Africa on the brink of an economic renaissance, fueled by its vibrant and youthful population. The emphasis on creative industries, including sports and entertainment, as key growth engines is particularly exciting 🙌🏿

Interesting update regarding Africa’s workforce potential. Indeed Africa has an exciting economic potential. However, it is not easy for businesses to enter to the African market. Lack of infrastructure, lack of strong financial institutions and banking systems are amongst many challenges new businesses had to face when they decide to invest in Africa. Technology is one of the biggest hurdle as well. All these challenges can be gradually addressed with a collaborative approach among various stakeholders and African governments.

We see this with the AFCON competitions every other year. Sports events alone do add significant returns and investments to African economies. It's good to see the IFC focusing more on this as well.

Sport is an industry in Africa in which there are many talents and potential but very few actors ready to engage and support. This initiative from IFC, Proparco and Helios is appreciable. here an actor i know DETECT PRO FUND. 👍
