"Even when there is goodwill, tech companies and election management bodies are talking past each other. Or worse yet—they can't figure out who to talk to." -Matt Bailey, IFES's Senior Global Advisor for Cybersecurity and Information Integrity at the #AthensDemocracyForum
This week, IFES traveled to Athens to present our Voluntary Election Integrity Guidelines for Technology Companies. In consultation with senior elections professionals from around the world and with support from major tech companies like Microsoft, Meta, and Google, IFES developed these guiding principles specifically designed to bridge the communication gap between elections officials and tech companies. With this framework, IFES lays out 11 applicable guidelines tech companies should adopt to build supportive rapport with elections managers in democracies large and small.
