LAF invites landscape architecture professionals to complete our 2024 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Survey for Landscape Architects and Designers. https://lnkd.in/eeD5RCMY This survey mirrors a 2019 effort by LAF to conduct the first discipline-wide individual and organizational surveys addressing DEI issues. This new survey will allow us to compare results to understand whether and how things have changed over the last 5 years. The survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete. All responses will be anonymous. (Note that this survey is for individuals who are landscape architecture professionals, not students or educators. If you are not a trained landscape architect by experience or education, please do not complete the survey.) As the expert on your own experiences, LAF wants to hear from you! The questions get at how inclusive you find your workplace and the profession overall to be, as well as what resources you think might be helpful to further support DEI.

landscape architecture "It involves the systematic design and general engineering of various structures for construction and human use, investigation of existing social, ecological, and soil conditions and processes in the landscape, and the design of other interventions that will produce desired outcomes." What is the purpose of a landscape architect? Landscape architects create healthy, safe, and beautiful outdoor places for everyone. As members of a STEM profession, they bring science and design together to make our communities better places to live, work, and play. Being a landscape architect requires years of education and experience and passing a national exam. https://lnkd.in/dvKJBuE3. In the last post, I mentioned what the Iranian garden means and in this post, I brought the landscape concept of "science and design together to make our communities better places to live" So I would like to say after all if you ask me how I will start I will start with landscape and urban design. The whole of the thing I said about the Renaissance will happen at this point. I feel there is no more need to explain as I mentioned the positives and advantages of clean streets and gardens and trees and .... in the city as more than half of my connections are architects I am sure it makes sense what I trying to say.

Landscape, as an essential component of quality of life for humans all over the world, is undergoing a period of rapid and profound changes, mainly due to such phenomena as climate challenges and social crises. Landscape Architects, more than ever, are expected to play a significant role in responding to current environmental and social challenges. Although many claim that Landscape Architecture is the profession of the 21st century, it is still struggling to gain proper recognition worldwide and in Europe. This paper aims to map the status and factors affecting the regulation process across Europe and present the role of legislation and legal recognition regarding Landscape Architect’s services, their professional title, and mobility. #landscapearchitecture #iflaeurope #ifla #landscape #landscapearchitect #climatechange #sustainability #Europe #profession

It's more often than not that when I respond I'm a landscape architect, people need more information to understand what it is I actually do. This is just a small example of the need for more recognition, incorporation of the relevant legal framework to national legislation and exposure of the profession to the more established planning and construction professionals.

👀 𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 - As we continue to develop and enhance our online presence, we feel it's important to keep our contractors and specifiers up to date with the changes we are making. Historically, we have tried to cater to both our contractors and specifiers within the same online space (a single website). However, over time, it has become evident that our contractors and specifiers require a distinct approach to service. - As you may already be aware, we recently introduced our new 'Contractors' website, a dedicated space for our contractors that features detailed product information and specifications, an online store, setup and user guides, as well as a service and support portal. Today, as we progress in creating a dedicated online space for specifiers and a new online contractor directory, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻 '𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺' 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, showcasing our steadfast commitment to the conservation and restoration of heritage buildings. - We invite both contractors and specifiers to explore the landing page, which offers further information about our future plans and 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲. - 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehbzVUae

Architects' Council of Europe (ACE-CAE) & IFLA Europe _ open letter in support of the law on #nature restoration On 12 June 2024, the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE) and the European Region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA Europe) have sent an open letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and to the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union, asking them to appeal to the Member States of Belgium, Finland, Austria, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands and Poland to vote in favor of the first Europe-wide Nature Restoration Law and to give up their blocking minority - in the interests of ecosystems and in the interests of Europe. The Architects Council of Europe (ACE) and the European Region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA Europe) are deeply concerned about the blocking minority position of certain EU Member States towards the EU Nature Restoration Law. The ACE and IFLA Europe, which represent the Architects and Landscape Architects across Europe, are partners of the New European Bauhaus, and are calling for a consistent law to restore nature. The Nature Recovery Law is acknowledging the importance of restoration of our natural systems and the need to secure the conservation, development, and management of our landscapes to ensure climate resilience, as an extension of the European Green Deal or the new European Bauhaus Declaration. This law is an essential contribution to achieving the climate targets we have set ourselves and provides important guidelines for our professions. This joint letter underscores the urgent need to adopt the EU Nature Restoration Law to safeguard our environment and future generations.
